A gigantic, mysterious alien artifact has entered low-Earth orbit, causing a planet-wide furor. The Earthlings dubbed the artifact a metahedron and sent a squad for the study of life forms and communications (SCAR), consisting of scientists and engineers, to study it. However, everything did not work out as planned: the metahedron unexpectedly transported the team to a mysterious planet outside the solar system. You play as Dr. Kate Ward from SCAR. She wakes up alone among unfamiliar, hostile flora and fauna and goes on a hike to find her colleagues and find out what brought earthlings to this world.
