English | ISBN: 3030974596 | 2023 | 268 pages | EPUB, PDF | 9 MB + 5 MB
This open access book provides a current view on education, equity and inclusion within the lens of education for a sustainable North. The first book published by the University of the Arctic Thematic Network for Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity (Including the North: A comparative study of the policies on inclusion and equity in the circumpolar North, 2019) highlighted policies of inclusion and equity in education in national and regional contexts. E-BooksFrom Exclusion to Inclusion in Old Age A Global Challenge

From Exclusion to Inclusion in Old Age A Global Challenge
From Exclusion to Inclusion in Old Age: A Global Challenge By Thomas Scharf (editor), Norah Keating (editor)
2012 | 192 Pages | ISBN: 1847427723 | PDF | 6 MB
Evidence of widening inequalities in later life raises concerns about the ways in which older adults might experience forms of social exclusion. Such concerns are evident in all societies as they seek to come to terms with the unprecedented ageing of their populations. Taking a broad international perspective, this highly topical book casts light on patterns and processes that either place groups of older adults at risk of exclusion or are conducive to their inclusion. Leading international experts challenge traditional understandings of exclusion in relation to ageing in From Exclusion to Inclusion in Old Age. They also present new evidence of the interplay between social institutions, policy processes, personal resources and the contexts within which ageing individuals live to show how this shapes inclusion or exclusion in later life. Dealing with topics such as globalisation, age discrimination and human rights, intergenerational relationships, poverty, and migration, the book is essential reading for anyone interested in ageing issues.

Young People and Community Safety Inclusion, Risk, Tolerance and Disorder Inclusion, Risk, Tolerance and Disorder
Lynda Measor, "Young People and Community Safety: Inclusion, Risk, Tolerance and Disorder: Inclusion, Risk, Tolerance and Disorder "
English | ISBN: 1138736643 | 2017 | 288 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
This title was first published in 2000: Effective service provisions for young people are often said to be the key to Community Safety planning yet research frequently shows young people as over-controlled yet under-protected. Taking up this dilemma, this work draws upon a large survey of young people's attitudes towards the opportunities facing them and the communities in which they live. The book explores many aspects of young people's lives that adult society finds so disconcerting or threatening or which agency service providers find so difficult to address. The results of these surveys are contrasted with surveys amongst key agency personnel - social services, education, housing, police and the youth service - developing contrasting perspectives on "young people's needs". These findings are then further contrasted with a survey of adult community reactions, revealing markedly different levels of tolerance and intolerance. Discussion of the research findings is situated within a critical review of existing youth diversion and community safety policy initiatives which, by listening to young people and resisting the "demonization" of the young, attempts to take a fresh look at the contemporary "youth question".
