Learn how and when to use the right data structures in any situation, strengthening your computational thinking, problem-solving, and programming skills in the process.
This accessible and entertaining book provides an in-depth introduction to computational thinking through the lens of data structures — a critical component in any programming endeavor. You'll learn how to work with more than 15 key data structures, from stacks, queues, and caches to bloom filters, skip lists, and graphs. You'll also master linked lists by virtually standing in line at a cafe, hash tables by cataloging the history of the summer Olympics, and Quadtrees by neatly organizing your kitchen cabinets, all while becoming familiar with basic computer science concepts, like recursion and running time analysis.

E-BooksControl and Estimation of Dynamical Nonlinear and Partial Differential Equation Systems Theory and applications

Control and Estimation of Dynamical Nonlinear and Partial Differential Equation Systems Theory and applications
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-1839534263 | 1046 pages | True PDF | 67.98 MB
Robotic and mechatronic systems, autonomous vehicles, electric power systems and smart grids, as well as manufacturing and industrial production systems can exhibit complex nonlinear dynamics or spatio-temporal dynamics which need to be controlled to ensure good functioning and performance.
In this comprehensive reference, the authors present new and innovative control and estimation methods and techniques based on dynamical nonlinear and partial differential equation systems. Such results can be classified in five main domains for the control of complex nonlinear dynamical systems using respectively methods of approximate (local) linearization, methods of exact (global) linearization, Lyapunov stability approaches, control and estimation of distributed parameter systems and stochastic estimation and fault diagnosis methods.

E-BooksCoin Hoards and Hoarding in the Roman World

Coin Hoards and Hoarding in the Roman World
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0198866380 | 369 pages | True PDF EPUB | 14.8 MB
Coin Hoards and Hoarding in the Roman World presents fourteen chapters from an interdisciplinary group of Roman numismatists, historians, and archaeologists, discussing coin hoarding in the Roman Empire from c. 30 BC to AD 400. The book illustrates the range of research themes being addressed by those connected with the Coin Hoards of the Roman Empire Project, which is creating a database of all known Roman coin hoards from Augustus to AD 400. The
volume also reflects the range of the Project's collaborations, with chapters on the use of hoard data to address methodological considerations or monetary history, and coverage of hoards from the west, centre, and east of the Roman Empire, essential to assess methodological issues and interpretations in as broad a

E-BooksCognitive Intelligence and Big Data in Healthcare

Cognitive Intelligence and Big Data in Healthcare
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1119768888, 978-1119768883 | 415 pages | True PDF | 23.12 MB
COGNITIVE INTELLIGENCE AND BIG DATA IN HEALTHCARE Applications of cognitive intelligence, advanced communication, and computational methods can drive healthcare research and enhance existing traditional methods in disease detection and management and prevention.
As health is the foremost factor affecting the quality of human life, it is necessary to understand how the human body is functioning by processing health data obtained from various sources more quickly. Since an enormous amount of data is generated during data processing, a cognitive computing system could be applied to respond to queries, thereby assisting in customizing intelligent recommendations. This decision-making process could be improved by the deployment of cognitive computing techniques in healthcare, allowing for cutting-edge techniques to be integrated into healthcare to provide intelligent services in various healthcare applications.

E-BooksBrief Supportive Psychotherapy A Treatment Manual and Clinical Approach

Brief Supportive Psychotherapy A Treatment Manual and Clinical Approach
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0197635806 | 161 pages | True PDF, EPUB | 5.54 MB
Supportive psychotherapy is widely practiced but poorly defined, often misunderstood, and unfairly disparaged. Dr. Markowitz and his colleagues manualized Brief Supportive Psychotherapy (BSP) as a time-limited control treatment to compare to "more active" established psychotherapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) in research studies. In fact, BSP, an emotion-focused, bare-bones treatment based on Carl Rogers' Client Centered Therapy, has since proven itself to be a robust treatment in multiple randomized controlled treatment trials. It has generally kept pace with the brand name treatments in treating patients with difficult disorders like chronic depression. Some therapists, previously trained only in cognitive and behavioral approaches, have found this affect-focused approach adds a new dimension to their thinking and to patients' lives.
Brief Supportive Psychotherapy: A Treatment Manual and Clinical Approach is both an elaboration of the now well-tested research treatment manual for BSP and a primer for clinicians. It illustrates how BSP helps patients with mood and anxiety disorders to tolerate rather than avoid their powerful negative emotions. It describes the key elements of supportive psychotherapy, covering the crucial "common factors" that help make all evidence-based psychotherapies effective. These include affective arousal, helping the patient to feel understood, realistic optimism for improvement, a therapeutic ritual, clinical poise, and success experiences. BSP maximizes patient autonomy, letting the patient lead sessions, and prescribes no homework. It is an elemental, relatively simple approach for a psychotherapy, yet no psychotherapy is easy to do well. Its affect-focused approach enhances the application of all psychotherapeutic approaches. It deserves a place among evidence-based treatments in depression treatment guidelines.
