The inclusion of this volume in Brill's Transcultural Aesthetics, a book series devoted primarily to multidisciplinary Western and non-Western aesthetics, is indispensable to enrich the nature and scope of contemporary aesthetics. Time and again, many aesthetic controversies have not been adequately addressed, and this has become a common concern among scholars in contemporary aesthetics. This volume therefore seeks to contribute new perspectives to these controversies by shedding light on some of the fresh views among the leading theorists working in the field today.

Free Download Martin Munro, "A New Region of the World: Aesthetics I: by Edouard Glissant "
English | ISBN: 1802077960 | 2023 | 128 pages | PDF | 1342 KB
We are all now entering into a new region of the world, which designates its sites on all the given and imaginable expanses, and of which only a few had been able to foresee in the distance its wanderings and obscurities. [] This region itself, we soon foresee, as difficult as it may seem to formulate its partition, is mixed in time as much as in space, a common site which hides another gap. Time has changed and space has changed. A steep separation of time and space, overwhelming one another. A new region that is an epoch, mixing all times and all durations, an epoch also which is an inexhaustible country, accumulating expanses, which are looking for other limits, in incalculable but always finite number, as has been said of atoms. []

English | ISBN: 0190051264 | 2020 | 416 pages | EPUB, PDF | 48 MB + 62 MB
In the late 19th century, modern psychology emerged as a discipline, shaking off metaphysical notions of the soul in favor of a more scientific, neurophysiological concept of the mind. Laboratories began to introduce instruments and procedures which examined bodily markers of psychological experiences, like muscle contractions and changes in vital signs. Along with these changes in the scientific realm came a newfound interest in physiological psychology within the arts - particularly with the new perception of artwork as stimuli, able to induce specific affective experiences.

English | ISBN: 147448896X | 2024 | 248 pages | PDF | 6 MB
Konrad Wojnowski argues that the probabilistic revolution, while recognized and investigated by historians of science, has been largely overlooked in the field of art. He shows that the idea that one can perceive and comprehend reality in terms of shifting probabilities was clearly present in the work of many avant-garde artists working in Europe and North America.

E-BooksHumanistic Management, Organization and Aesthetics

Humanistic Management, Organization and Aesthetics
Free Download Michal Szostak, "Humanistic Management, Organization and Aesthetics"
English | ISBN: 1032599855 | 2023 | 294 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
The book is the first worldwide publication of a complex theory of management aesthetics in humanistic management based on the aesthetics and arts approach allowing for a complete and systemic understanding of the management art and art management phenomena. The methodology is based on the critical literature review and empirical research applying qualitative, quantitative, and autoethnographic approaches. The main goal of this monograph is to create a holistic model that organises the issues of management aesthetics and shows the interdependence of the components of this model. The role of this model should be to perform a central function for a complete and systemic understanding of the phenomenon of management aesthetics, as well as to perform the function of a field based on which analysis of individual issues in the area of management aesthetics is conducted. The critical component of this holistic model is Maria Gołaszewska's theory of the aesthetic situation. Two theses of the book are the following: (1) the theory of aesthetics and artistic practice have the potential to enrich the theory and practice of management with qualitative components through deep immersion in the world of values and (2) management theory and practice have the potential to enrich the theory of aesthetics and artistic practice with efficiency components.

E-BooksArchitectural Aesthetics Appreciating Architecture As An Art (Bloomsbury Aesthetics)

Architectural Aesthetics Appreciating Architecture As An Art (Bloomsbury Aesthetics)
Free Download Architectural Aesthetics: Appreciating Architecture As An Art (Bloomsbury Aesthetics) by Edward Winters
English | May 18, 2023 | ISBN: 1350210994 | 234 pages | MOBI | 5.73 Mb
The fine arts are traditionally seen to have intrinsic value: that is, they are valuable in themselves. But this poses a problem for architecture: its works are designed to serve our purposes, and therefore it is classed as functional. Carving out a new space, Edward Winters argues why architecture is a fine art and finds a place for the fine art of architecture in the cultural environment in which we structure our lives. Winters reconciles intrinsic value, as a fine art, with extrinsic value, as shelter, security and comfort, without collapsing into the modernist conception of Functionalism. He draws on the Apollonian and the Dionysian to resolve the apparent conflict between the two values: the former requiring contemplative, detached reflection, the latter an engaged, embodied entanglement with the festive mood inspired by the immediate situation. Architecture, Winters claims, is to be regarded as functional; but this functionality is subsumed under the intrinsic aesthetic value of living well. Introducing the main positions in the philosophy of architecture through the lens of the timeless argument about what constitutes art, Winters lays out a humanistic view of the medium and extends our understanding of aesthetics and the everyday.

Aesthetics and Modernity Toward a New Philosophical Functionalization of Art
Free Download Iwona Lorenc, "Aesthetics and Modernity: Toward a New Philosophical Functionalization of Art "
English | ISBN: 3631845073 | 2021 | 160 pages | EPUB, PDF | 16 MB + 7 MB
The contents of this book deliberate on the questions related to the function of art and to aesthetics as they exist in the context of the most salient philosophical and cultural late modernist tendencies. The book extracts cornerstone elements of the ever-changing ways people of the 20th and 21st centuries experience the world, and highlights the relation between shifts in modern art, and the processes of fictionalization. Particular focus was placed on a phenomenological perspective. The publication introduces novelty by showcasing the links between reflecting on late modernity, and the philosophical concepts and methodological capabilities of phenomenology. It is a panoramic outlook over existing views, and simultaneously a self-sufficient theoretical proposal.
