E-BooksArmed Conflict and Forcible Displacement Individual Rights under International Law

Armed Conflict and Forcible Displacement Individual Rights under International Law
Free Download Armed Conflict and Forcible Displacement: Individual Rights under International Law By Elena Katselli Proukaki (editor)
2018 | 267 Pages | ISBN: 1138643335 | PDF | 4 MB
This book addresses the involuntary and arbitrary displacement of individuals resulting from armed conflict and gross human rights violations. It shows that forcible displacement constitutes a serious violation of international law and of fundamental community interests. Armed Conflict and Forcible Displacement provides a critical legal analysis of the contemporary international framework, permeating forcible displacement in these circumstances and explores the rights that individuals possess with specific focus on the right not to be displaced and, where this fails, the right to return home and to receive property restitution. In doing so, this volume marries together different fields of international law and builds on the case studies of Cyprus, Colombia, Cambodia and Syria. While the case studies considered here are far from exhaustive, they are either little explored or present significant challenges due to the magnitude of displacement or contested international jurisprudence. Through this analysis, the volume exposes some of the legal challenges that individuals encounter in being protected from forcible displacement, as well as the legal obstacles that persist in ensuring the return of and the recovery of property by the displaced. It will be of interest to those interested in the fields of international law, human rights law, as well as conflict and war studies.

E-BooksThe Individual and Privacy Volume I

The Individual and Privacy Volume I
Joseph A. Cannataci, "The Individual and Privacy: Volume I"
English | 2015 | ISBN: 1409447170 | PDF | pages: 541 | 35.8 mb
The essays selected for this volume reflect the many paths followed to develop a new, more robust methodology (idMAPPING) for investigating privacy. Each article deals with the three dimensions of time, space and place by addressing a number of questions such as: who? Which individual? When? How? Is privacy viewed from the perspective of legal theory, or of information science? Or from the viewpoint of sociology, social psychology, philosophy, information ethics or data protection law? The reader is offered a multi-disciplinary overview of the subject, a mosaic made up of several snapshots taken at different times by different scholars with different points of view. The detailed introduction increases clarity in parts of the picture where the way that the pieces fit together may not be immediately apparent, and concludes by challenging internet-era fallacies. Taken together, the articles demonstrate an innovative approach to evidence-based policy-making, and show privacy scholarship at its best.

E-BooksWoman as Individual in English Renaissance Drama A Defiance of Masculine Code

Woman as Individual in English Renaissance Drama A Defiance of Masculine Code
Carol Hansen, "Woman as Individual in English Renaissance Drama: A Defiance of Masculine Code"
English | 2000 | ISBN: 0820420093 | PDF | pages: 236 | 42.6 mb
A critical analysis of the position of women in English Renaissance drama, this book examines the impact of male domination in the drama and non-dramatic treatises of the day and scrutinizes the kaleidoscopic images of women found in selected plays of Shakespeare, Webster, and Middleton. The book shows how the masculine code led to disintegration, defiance, and death for women, and to madness for men. Set against a generalized image of archetypal Eve, woman nevertheless could emerge as an individual, as a splendid fighter for self.

E-BooksIntegrating the Individual and the Organization

Integrating the Individual and the Organization
Integrating the Individual and the Organization By Chris Argyris (editor)
2009 | 352 Pages | ISBN: 0887388035 | PDF | 18 MB
The emphasis on organizational change in the corporate life of recent years-including job redesign, autonomous groups, high performance work systems, and the redesign of control systems-owes a great deal to the pioneering work of Chris Argyris. This book examines how individuals in organizations can become more effective, in turn making organizations more effective. It explores the conventional pyramidal structure of organizations, in which there is top-down control by managers over workers, and examines their negative consequences. These include organizational injustice and eventually irrational decision-making. Argyris also discusses the characteristic learning system of the modern organization, which he describes as "single-loop" in character. This system, he argues, is only adequeate enough to permit the organization to implement existing policies. It does not permit the more difficult and comprehensive task of questioning underlying goals and assumptions, which he terms "doubt loop" learning. In this kind of learning, the organization is able to confront the more difficult problems that affect organizations in a time of transition. In his new introduction, Argyris reviews the strengths and limitations of the argument advanced in Integrating the Individual and the Organization. He describes why the pyramidal structure endures, and why creating a self-learning organization is an even more challenging task than he has imagined. The book will be of interest to professionals with a long-standing interest in organizational development as well as those just entering the field, managers confronting the challenge of organization change, and researchers in organizational behavior and theory.

E-BooksIndividual Influence Find the "I" in Team [Audiobook]

Individual Influence Find the "I" in Team [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B0B164FYCY | 2022 | 8 hours and 7 minutes | MP3 | M4B | 229 MB
While most of us have grown up being taught that the letter "I" has no place in the word "team," teams are wholly made up of individual advantages that contribute to the collective power of the group. In Individual Influence, authors Brian and Mary Smith go far beyond this axiom, making a persuasive case that even a company or team of individual players is still an "Individual" at its core—expressing the collective influence of all those who play a role in it. Thus, there is not just one "I" in team, but many. In the first installment of this series, listeners will be led on a far-from-typical journey of self-discovery punctuated by often humorous stories and tangible steps to put the wisdom into practice. Demonstrated through real-life experience working with and leading teams, the authors cover many transformative concepts. Individual Influence revolutionizes the paradigm of traditional self-help books, presenting a clear, logical flow in implementing solutions to everyday challenges we face. It is a call for listeners to discover who they are, and in doing so, there is a new world filled with unlimited possibilities waiting to be explored.
