Individual differences represent one of the oldest research areas within psychology and serve as the 'nature' component critical for understanding human behaviour. This domain's constructs have long been applied in organizational spheres, including organizational behaviour, organizational psychology, managerial psychology, personnel psychology, leadership, and management. As a result, there exists a vast body of literature exploring the role of individual differences in organizational settings.

E-BooksSocial Justice and Individual Ethics in an Open Society Equality, Responsibility, and Incentives

Social Justice and Individual Ethics in an Open Society Equality, Responsibility, and Incentives
Free Download Frank Vandenbroucke, "Social Justice and Individual Ethics in an Open Society: Equality, Responsibility, and Incentives"
English | 2001 | pages: 313 | ISBN: 3540416366 | PDF | 19,4 mb
Can the need for incentives justify inequality? Starting from this question, Frank Vandenbroucke examines a conception of justice in which both equality and responsibility are involved. In the first part of the inquiry, which explores the implementation of that conception of justice, the justification of incentives assumes that agents make personal choices based only upon their own interests. The second part of the book challenges the idea that a normative conception of distributive justice can be based on that traditional assumption, i.e. that personal choices are not the subject matter of justice. Thus, Vandenbroucke questions the Rawlsian idea that the primary subject of a theory of justice is the basic structure of society, and not the individual conduct of its citizens. For a society to be really just, the ethos of individual conduct has to serve justice. Non-mathematical readers can skip the formal model proposed in Chapter 3 and understand the rest of the book.

E-BooksThe Individual and the Nature of Mass Events A Seth Book

The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events A Seth Book
Free Download The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events: A Seth Book By Jane Roberts; Seth (Spirit); Robert F. Butts
1995 | 336 Pages | ISBN: 1878424211 | EPUB | 1 MB
Speaking exclusively through Jane Roberts, Seth has repeatedly stressed the concept that we create our own reality according to our individual beliefs. But how do our realities merge and combine to form mass reactions such as the overthrow of governments, the birth of a new religion, wars, epidemics, earthquakes, and new periods of art, architecture, and technology? In this pioneering work, Seth explores the connection between personal beliefs and world events. He pinpoints the unconscious -- and often negative -- beliefs pervading science and religion, medicine and mythology, and offers thought-provoking reflections on Darwinism, Freudianism, religions, cults, and medical beliefs.

This volume considers the various individual, cultural and institutional influences that have an impact on journalistic ethics today. It also examines the links between ethics and professionalism, the organizational promotion of ethical values and the tensions between ethics, freedom of information and speech, and the need to disseminate information. By comparing the theoretical underpinnings of journalistic ethics with a variety of international case studies, this volume provides a comparative global analysis of the ethical challenges faced by the media in the twenty-first century. It will be essential reading for students of journalism and practicing journalists.

A Life of One's Own Individual Rights and the Welfare State
Free Download A Life of One's Own: Individual Rights and the Welfare State By David Kelley
1998 | 176 Pages | ISBN: 1882577701 | EPUB | 1 MB
David Kelley subjects the institutions of the contemporary welfare state to sustained and withering criticism. "A Life of One's Own" is a devastating refutation of the flawed concept of "welfare rights." Kelley presents empirical evidence of the welfare state's effects on behavior, historical research on the origins of the welfare state (and on what it displaced), and philosophical clarification of such core ideas as freedom and rights. After a careful examination of the various arguments made on behalf of welfare rights, Kelley concludes that "the concept of welfare rights is invalid."

E-BooksIndividual Strategy and Social Structure An Evolutionary Theory of Institutions

Individual Strategy and Social Structure An Evolutionary Theory of Institutions
Free Download H. Peyton Young, "Individual Strategy and Social Structure: An Evolutionary Theory of Institutions"
English | 2001 | pages: 208 | ISBN: 0691086877, 069102684X | DJVU | 2,4 mb
Neoclassical economics as-sumes that people are highly rational and can reason their way through even the most complex economic problems. In Individual Strategy and Social Structure, Peyton Young argues for a more realistic view in which people have a limited understanding of their environment, are sometimes short-sighted, and occasionally act in perverse ways. He shows how the cumulative experiences of many such individuals coalesce over time into customs, norms, and institutions that govern economic and social life. He develops a theory that predicts how such institutions evolve and characterizes their welfare properties.

Author: Tanya Reilly
Narrator: Wendy Tremont King

For years, companies have rewarded their most effective engineers with management positions. But treating management as the default path for an engineer with leadership ability doesn't serve the industry well-or the engineer. The staff engineer's path allows engineers to contribute at a high level as role models, driving big projects, determining technical strategy, and raising everyone's skills. This in-depth book shows you how to understand your role, manage your time, master strategic thinking, and set the standard for technical work. You'll learn about how to be a leader without direct authority, how to plan ahead to make the right technical decisions, and how to make everyone around you better, while still growing as an expert in your domain.
