E-BooksGlobalization and Planetary Ethics

Globalization and Planetary Ethics
Free Download Simi Malhotra, "Globalization and Planetary Ethics"
English | ISBN: 103222276X | 2023 | 210 pages | PDF | 3 MB
This volume is a critical investigation into the contemporary phenomenon of the dissensus of the globe and the planet, and the new terrains of consciousness that need to be negotiated towards a possibility for transformation. It examines the possibilities of alternate, sustainable modes of being and existing in a world which requires a unified, ethical, biopolitical worldview. The book explores themes like philosophical posthumanism and planetary concerns; disruption of cultural and intellectual inequality; bodily movement through nomadic subjectivity; dystopic spatialities of game(re)play; globalization, and speculative imaginaries of the body; and theory of multiplicity. It also discusses the impact of COVID-19 on human beings, the role of the neoliberal media, the question of rights of robots and cyborgs in sci-fi movies, and representation of refugees in literature.

Globalization and Papua New Guinea Ancient Wilderness, Paradise, Introduced Terror and Hell (2024)
Free Download Globalization and Papua New Guinea: Ancient Wilderness, Paradise, Introduced Terror and Hell by Falk Huettmann
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 705 Pages | ISBN : 3031202619 | 324 MB
This book aims to present a reality view for Papua New Guinea based on many years of first-hand field work and research accounts. It further assesses sustainability in the light of 47,000 years of a self-sustained type of civilization without bad global impacts. This book contrasts the modern sustainable development failures from the colonial times onwards, as promoted by the 'western world', namely Australia, the UK, EU and the U.S as well as Japan and now, China, in times of globalization, Trump'ism and royal governance (Papua New Guinea is still part of the British Dominion and of the Antarctic Treaty etc). This assessment and book is the first of its kind also employing modern data analysis, Landscape Ecology principles (patterns and processes, telecoupling) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with Open Access data focusing on ecological economics, marxism, socialism and contrasting it with current capitalism and neoliberalism that Papua New Guinea is fully exposed to. Throughout the 31 book chapters various aspects are covered how a further insistence on the 'new' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and so-called Development Aid will result in unwanted side effects and perverse outcomes for Papua New Guinea and for the world in times of wider 'global change' and unprecedented man-made crisis.

English | ISBN: 1527508560 | 2018 | 232 pages | PDF | 821 KB
This collection investigates the complex and myriad relations between identity and borders in an increasingly globalized world. The movement towards a borderless world, bolstered by an unprecedented development in information and communication technology, forces us to rethink traditional notions of singular identity, and directs us towards the need for engaging and negotiating with the world in multiple ways. Employing a wide range of critical approaches to works that examine and explore the contested terrain of globalization and the hotly disputed arena of borders, the essays brought together here offer innovative perspectives through which issues of borders, globalization and identity can be negotiated. Straddling various genres, this collection represents an investigation of the conflicting relationship between identity and borders in the contemporary globalized world.

E-BooksLiterature and Interregnum Globalization, War, and the Crisis of Sovereignty in Latin America

Literature and Interregnum Globalization, War, and the Crisis of Sovereignty in Latin America
Free Download Patrick Dove, "Literature and "Interregnum": Globalization, War, and the Crisis of Sovereignty in Latin America"
English | 2016 | ISBN: 1438461550, 1438461542 | PDF | pages: 342 | 1.2 mb
Literature and "Interregnum" examines the unraveling of the political forms of modernity through readings of end-of-millennium literary texts by César Aira, Marcelo Cohen, Sergio Chejfec, Diamela Eltit, and Roberto Bolaño. The opening of national spaces to the global capitalist system in the 1980s culminates in the suspension of key principles of modernity, most notably that of political sovereignty. While the neoliberal model subjugates modern forms of social organization and political decision making to an economic rationale, the market is unable to provide a new ordering principle that could fill the empty place formerly occupied by the national figure of the sovereign. The result is a situation that resembles what the Italian political philosopher Antonio Gramsci termed "interregnum," an in-between time in which "the old [order] is dying and the new cannot be born." The recoding of history as literary form provides occasions for reconsidering modern conceptualizations of aesthetic experience, mood, temporality, thought, politics, ethical experience, as well as of literature itself as social institution. In his analysis, Patrick Dove seeks to create dialogues between literature and theoretical perspectives, including Continental philosophy, political thought, psychoanalysis, and sociology of globalization. The author highlights the connections between mass media, technology, politics, and economics.
