E-BooksStatelessness, Human Rights And Gender Irregular Migrant Workers from Burma in Thailand

Statelessness, Human Rights And Gender Irregular Migrant Workers from Burma in Thailand
Free Download Tang Lay Lee, "Statelessness, Human Rights And Gender: Irregular Migrant Workers from Burma in Thailand"
English | 2005 | pages: 301 | ISBN: 9004146482 | PDF | 1,3 mb
This book breaks from tradition in exploring the developing relationship between statelessness and migration. International lawyers, refugee and migrant worker advocates will be drawn to the argument that migration law is setting the parameters of the framework for international protection. Statelessness used to be associated with state succession, mass denationalisation and refugee flows in the twentieth century. However, the rise in irregular migration is producing new forms of statelessness. Neither customary international law, international conventions on statelessness, refugees and migrant workers nor general human rights instruments provide effective protection for these contemporary groups of stateless persons. Women and children are among the most unprotected. The discussion on the gendered construction of statelessness will interest those involved in gender studies. The analysis of the interface between citizenship, migration and other domestic laws and! policies of Burma and Thailand will provoke discussion among human rights advocates working on these two countries. The book concludes that it is imperative to develop international law limits on state powers in immigration matters.

Deutsch | 2023 | ISBN: 3658425393 | 147 Seiten | EPUB (True) | 5 MB

E-BooksThe Economics of Gender in China (Routledge Studies in Gender and Economics)

The Economics of Gender in China (Routledge Studies in Gender and Economics)
Free Download The Economics of Gender in China (Routledge Studies in Gender and Economics) by Sisi Sung
English | August 18, 2022 | ISBN: 1032309946 | 242 pages | PDF | 2.07 Mb
China's rapid socio-economic development has achieved remarkable equalizing conditions between men and women in the aspects of health, education and labor force participation, but the glass ceiling phenomenon has become more prominent. The book develops a cross-disciplinary paradigm, with economics at its core, to better understand gender in China and women in management in the Chinese business context. The theoretical perspective integrates the knowledge and evidence from cognate disciplinary strands, such as economics, sociology, management studies, and the Chinese literature, into one unified framework. In-depth interviews with managers in China's largest enterprises complement the theoretical perspective with rich empirical details to examine women's managerial experiences and career choices. The book's argument sheds light on the power of stereotypes that specify women's roles in the family, organization, and society. It shows that understanding the socio-psychological and organizational dynamics of stereotyping in the Chinese context, as well as how Chinese women make career decisions, recognizing and deploying these expectations, provides new perspectives on the underrepresentation of women among business leaders in China. The book offers multi-disciplinary evidence on the economics of gender in China that is highly relevant for gender studies in general, and across a number of subject areas, and it can be used in any setting as an introductory reference. Gender and Romance in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
Free Download Susan Crane, "Gender and Romance in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales"
English | 2016 | pages: 242 | ISBN: 0691634963, 0691606145 | PDF | 11,5 mb
In this fresh look at Chaucer's relation to English and French romances of the late Middle Ages, Crane shows that Chaucer's depictions of masculinity and femininity constitute an extensive and sympathetic response to the genre. For Chaucer, she proposes, gender is the defining concern of romance. As the foundational narratives of courtship, romances participate in the late medieval elaboration of new meanings around heterosexual identity. Crane draws on feminist and genre theory to argue that Chaucer's profound interest in the cultural construction of masculinity and femininity arises in large part from his experience of romance.
