E-BooksDynamical Properties in Nanostructured and Low-Dimensional Materials, 2nd Edition

Dynamical Properties in Nanostructured and Low-Dimensional Materials, 2nd Edition
English | 2022 | ISBN: 0750339012, 978-0-7503-3903-2 | 278 pages | True PDF EPUB MOBI | 56.78 MB
The last few years have seen dramatic advances in the growth, fabrication and characterization of low-dimensional materials (such as graphene) and nanostructures (such as those formed from ultrathin films, wires, discs and other "dots"), formed either singly or in spatially periodic arrays. Most studies of these artificially engineered materials have been driven by their potential for device applications that involve smaller and smaller physical dimensions. In particular, the dynamical properties of these materials are of fundamental interest for the devices that involve high-frequency operation and/or switching. Consequently, the different excitations, vibrational, magnetic, optical, electronic, and so on, need to be understood from the perspective of how their properties are modified in finite structures especially on the nanometre length scale due to the presence of surfaces and interfaces. Recently, the patterning of nanoelements, into periodic and other arrays, has become a focus of intense activity, leading for example to photonic crystals and their analogues such as phononic and magnonic crystals where the control of the band gaps in the excitation spectrum is a basis for applications. The nonlinear properties of the excitations are increasingly a topic of interest, as well as the linear dynamics.

E-BooksFinite-Dimensional Division Algebras over Fields

Finite-Dimensional Division Algebras over Fields
Finite-Dimensional Division Algebras over Fields By Nathan Jacobson (auth.)
1996 | 284 Pages | ISBN: 3540570292 | PDF | 8 MB
Finite-dimensional division algebras over fields determine, by the Wedderburn Theorem, the semi-simple finite-dimensio= nal algebras over a field. They lead to the definition of the Brauer group and to certain geometric objects, the Brau= er-Severi varieties. The book concentrates on those algebras that have an involution. Algebras with involution appear in many contexts;they arose first in the study of the so-called "multiplication algebras of Riemann matrices". The largest part of the book is the fifth chapter, dealing with involu= torial simple algebras of finite dimension over a field. Of particular interest are the Jordan algebras determined by these algebras with involution;their structure is discussed. Two important concepts of these algebras with involution are the universal enveloping algebras and the reduced norm.Corrections of the 1st edition (1996) carried out on behalf of N. Jacobson (deceased) by Prof. P.M. Cohn (UC London, UK).

Fundamentals of Low Dimensional Magnets
Fundamentals of Low Dimensional Magnets
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032048727 | 380 Pages | PDF (True) | 39 MB
A low-dimensional magnet is a key to the next generation of electronic devices. In some respects, low-dimensional magnets refer to nanomagnets (nanostructured magnets) or single-molecule magnets (molecular nanomagnets). They also include the group of magnetic nanoparticles, which have been widely used in biomedicine, technology, industries, and environmental remediation.

E-BooksSpin Dynamics in Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials A Theoretical Study

Spin Dynamics in Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials A Theoretical Study
Spin Dynamics in Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials: A Theoretical Study by Marc Vila Tusell
English | EPUB | 2022 | 169 Pages | ISBN : 3030861139 | 28.1 MB
This thesis focuses on the exploration of nontrivial spin dynamics in graphene-based devices and topological materials, using realistic theoretical models and state-of-the-art quantum transport methodologies. The main outcomes of this work are: (i) the analysis of the crossover from diffusive to ballistic spin transport regimes in ultraclean graphene nonlocal devices, and (ii) investigation of spin transport and spin dynamics phenomena (such as the (quantum) spin Hall effect) in novel topological materials, such as monolayer Weyl semimetals WeTe2 and MoTe2.

E-BooksInfinite-dimensional Analysis Operators In Hilbert Space; Stochastic Calculus Via Representations, And Duality Theory

Infinite-dimensional Analysis Operators In Hilbert Space; Stochastic Calculus Via Representations, And Duality Theory
English | 2021 | ISBN: 981122577X | 253 pages | True PDF EPUB | 23.77 MB
The purpose of this book is to make available to beginning graduate students, and to others, some core areas of analysis which serve as prerequisites for new developments in pure and applied areas. We begin with a presentation (Chapters 1 and 2) of a selection of topics from the theory of operators in Hilbert space, algebras of operators, and their corresponding spectral theory. This is a systematic presentation of interrelated topics from infinite-dimensional and non-commutative analysis; again, with view to applications. Chapter 3 covers a study of representations of the canonical commutation relations (CCRs); with emphasis on the requirements of infinite-dimensional calculus of variations, often referred to as Ito and Malliavin calculus, Chapters 4-6. This further connects to key areas in quantum physics.

E-BooksDimensional Analysis for Meds Refocusing on Essential Metric Calculations, 6th Edition

Dimensional Analysis for Meds Refocusing on Essential Metric Calculations, 6th Edition
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1284248623 | 300 pages | True EPUB | 64.04 MB
Dosage calculation is an essential skill for students embarking on a career in nursing. This topic can be very challenging and intimidating for students, however, veteran author, Anna Curren breaks down this subject using the dimensional analysis method which reduces all calculations into a single, easy-to-solve equation. This takes the fear-factor out of manual math altogether. Many students have raved about how previous editions of this text helped them through their medical math course and succeed in clinical practice. The Sixth Edition of Dimensional Analysis for Meds: Refocusing on Essential Metric Calculations has been streamlined to present only the essential information. The first chapter begins with an overview of the metric system; as Curren states, 98% of all calculations involve metric measures. The text is structured to feature content in small instructional steps followed by assessments to reinforce what has been learned. In an effort to prevent annual hospital drug dose errors, the latest drug dosage abbreviations and metric notations are included giving nurses the knowledge they need to safely care for their patients. Key Features * New chapter Introduction to IV Therapy covers intravenous medication titration and IV infusions * Pediatric dosage information appears side-by-side with adult dosages * Video assets guide students through dimensional analysis calculations Navigate Premier Access

E-BooksApplication of Dimensional Analysis in Economics

Application of Dimensional Analysis in Economics
W.M. Grudzewski, K. Rosanowska-Plichcinska, "Application of Dimensional Analysis in Economics"
English | 2013 | pages: 152 | ISBN: 1614992797 | PDF | 1,1 mb
The modeling of economic phenomena and processes, in terms of their static and dynamic features and with regard to the characteristics of their course, is a major methodological trend in studies of the nature, properties and functioning of contemporary management systems. Models describing management systems must be of a multi-aspect nature, entailing aspects such as technical, economic and sociological factors on the one hand, and forecasting, planning, leading, controlling etc., on the other. Developing a method for incorporating such diverse data into a system of analysis is, needless to say, a complex process. Dimensional analysis is a tool which might be useful in this process, but one which, up to now, has been little explored in the economic sciences. This book explores the application of dimensional analysis in the field of economics. It has been structured in a way which corresponds to the formulation of economic quantities, and is divided into five sections: measuring of economic quantities, modeling of economic processes, principles of dimensional analysis, building of quantified dimensional models, and experiment and practical verification.

E-BooksTwo-Dimensional Sonata Form Form and Cycle in Single-Movement Instrumental Works by Liszt, Strauss, Schoenberg, and Zemlinsky

Two-Dimensional Sonata Form Form and Cycle in Single-Movement Instrumental Works by Liszt, Strauss, Schoenberg, and Zemlinsky
Two-Dimensional Sonata Form: Form and Cycle in Single-Movement Instrumental Works by Liszt, Strauss, Schoenberg, and Zemlinsky By Steven Vande Moortele
2009 | 200 Pages | ISBN: 9058677516 | PDF | 5 MB
Two-Dimensional Sonata Form is the first book dedicated to the combination of the movements of a multimovement sonata cycle with an overarching single-movement form that is itself organized as a sonata form. Drawing on a variety of historical and recent approaches to musical form (e.g., Marxian and Schoenbergian Formenlehre, Caplin's theory of formal functions, and Hepokoski and Darcy's Sonata Theory), it begins by developing an original theoretical framework for the analysis of this type of form that is so characteristic of the later nineteenth and early twentieth century. It then offers an in-depth examination of nine exemplary works by four Central European composers: the Piano Sonata in B minor and the symphonic poems Tasso and Die Ideale by Franz Liszt; Richard Strauss's tone poems Don Juan and Ein Heldenleben; the symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande, the First String Quartet and the First Chamber Symphony by Arnold Schoenberg, and Alexander Zemlinsky's Second String Quartet.
