E-BooksDesign and Construction of Bioclimatic Wooden Greenhouses, Volume 4 Architectural Integration and Quantitative Analyses

Design and Construction of Bioclimatic Wooden Greenhouses, Volume 4 Architectural Integration and Quantitative Analyses
Gian Luca Brunetti, "Design and Construction of Bioclimatic Wooden Greenhouses, Volume 4: Architectural Integration and Quantitative Analyses"
English | ISBN: 1786308541 | 2023 | 352 pages | EPUB | 35 MB
This book is the fourth of four dealing with bioclimatic design and construction by focusing on the most basic and polyvalent of modern environmental systems: the bioclimatic greenhouse, the "Swiss-army chainsaw" of architecture. More specifically, this fourth volume focuses on architectural integration, environmental prediction and how to simulate and structurally size a bioclimatic wooden greenhouse. In more general terms, it helps us to consider how to design and build the structure of bioclimatic, low-energy architecture, with low environmental impact.

Kailas Histories: Renunciate Traditions and the Construction of Himalayan Sacred Geography By Alex McKay
2015 | 550 Pages | ISBN: 9004304584 | PDF | 5 MB
Kailas Histories demonstrates how British colonial, Hindu modernist, and New Age interests synthesised historically diverse representations to construct the understanding of Tibet's great pilgrimage centre Mount Kailas - and India's Gangotri - as ancient sacred sites embodying a universal sacrality.

E-BooksString-Net Construction of RCFT Correlators

String-Net Construction of RCFT Correlators
String-Net Construction of RCFT Correlators
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3031146816 | 213 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 18 MB
This book studies using string-net models to accomplish a direct, purely two-dimensional, approach to correlators of two-dimensional rational conformal field theories. The authors obtain concise geometric expressions for the objects describing bulk and boundary fields in terms of idempotents in the cylinder category of the underlying modular fusion category, comprising more general classes of fields than is standard in the literature. Combining these idempotents with Frobenius graphs on the world sheet yields string nets that form a consistent system of correlators, i.e. a system of invariants under appropriate mapping class groups that are compatible with factorization. The authors extract operator products of field objects from specific correlators; the resulting operator products are natural algebraic expressions that make sense beyond semisimplicity. They also derive an Eckmann-Hilton relation internal to a braided category, thereby demonstrating the utility of string nets for understanding algebra in braided tensor categories. Finally, they introduce the notion of a universal correlator. This systematizes the treatment of situations in which different world sheets have the same correlator and allows for the definition of a more comprehensive mapping class group.

E-Books3D Printing for Construction with Alternative Materials

3D Printing for Construction with Alternative Materials
3D Printing for Construction with Alternative Materials by Bárbara Rangel, Ana Sofia Guimarães, Jorge Lino, Leonardo Santana
English | PDF,EPUB | 2023 | 177 Pages | ISBN : 3031093186 | 45.4 MB
This book explores the latest achievements and design possibilities that 3D printing for construction (DPC) can offer, the alternative materials to natural aggregates or cement and even the 4th dimension that is already starting in this area. DPC materiality is starting to be explored in architecture as a new design language to reach not only outrageous forms but also to leverage the building process and its performance. Like Corbusier explored the concrete potentiality of concrete to release the façade and the plan, 3DPC is allowing to straighten design freedom with building performance.

Detailed, accurate estimates are a critical part of construction, and professional estimators are in demand. Without estimates, construction managers can't build budgets, get approvals, and hire workers. If you're interested in construction estimating to create bids for your business, or as a full-time career, this course provides an overview of the basics. Learn the terminology and the components of a typical estimate. See examples of solid contract drawings, and what the tools of the trade look like—including the analog scale, ruler, and counter—as well as what to look for in software packages that are tailored to these tasks. Instructor and professional estimator Christopher Randall provides the training you need to make the jump into this popular profession.

E-BooksVitruvian Man Rome under Construction

Vitruvian Man Rome under Construction
John Oksanish, "Vitruvian Man: Rome under Construction"
English | 2019 | pages: 265 | ISBN: 0190696982 | PDF | 4,0 mb
Professionalism is political. This book offers a new assessment of the Roman architect Vitruvius and his treatise, On Architecture, dedicated to Augustus in the 20s BCE. Once reviled by scholars, Vitruvius emerges as an imperial expert par excellence when read alongside literary coevals through an intertextual lens. No building of Vitruvius' name survives from antiquity, but his treatise remains a formidable literary construction that partakes of Rome's vibrant textual culture. The book explores Vitruvius' portrait of the ideal architect as an imposing "Vitruvian man" at the dawn of Augustus' empire. In direct dialogue with his republican model, Cicero's ideal orator, the architect embodies a distinctly imperial civic ethos in which technically skilled partisans supersede old elites as guarantors of Augustan authority. Vitruvius promises to shape not only the emperor's legacy with architecture, but also the notion of a Roman citizen through his ideal architect.
