Models of Computation for Big Data by Rajendra Akerkar
English | EPUB | 2018 | 110 Pages | ISBN : 3319918508 | 6.8 MB
The big data tsunami changes the perspective of industrial and academic research in how they address both foundational questions and practical applications. This calls for a paradigm shift in algorithms and the underlying mathematical techniques. There is a need to understand foundational strengths and address the state of the art challenges in big data that could lead to practical impact. The main goal of this book is to introduce algorithmic techniques for dealing with big data sets. Traditional algorithms work successfully when the input data fits well within memory. In many recent application situations, however, the size of the input data is too large to fit within memory.

FE Computation on Accuracy Fabrication of Ship and Offshore Structure Based on Processing Mechanics
English | 2021 | ISBN: 9811640866 | 232 Pages | PDF EPUB | 107 MB
This book provides insight on processing mechanics during ship and offshore structure, and researchers, scientists, and engineers in the field of manufacturing process mechanics can benefit from the book. This book is written by subject experts based on the recent research results in FE computation on accuracy fabrication of ship and offshore structures based on processing mechanics. In order to deal with actual engineering problems during construction of ship and offshore structure, it proposes advanced computational approaches such as thermal elastic-plastic and elastic FE computations and employed to examine physical behavior and clarifies generation mechanism of mechanical response. As such, this book provides valuable knowledge, useful methods, and practical algorithms that can be considered in manufacturing process mechanics.

This book presents a new take on the evolution of digital design theories in architecture from modernity to today, as they have been inspired both by contemporary philosophy and the emergence and access to advanced computation. It focuses on how concepts ofdifferencein philosophy transformed architectural design theory and takes on even more significance with the introduction and ubiquitous use of computers within the discipline, changing the architectural design paradigm forever.
Beginning with a presentation of American Pragmatism's push towards process, the book continues on to Husserl's influence on the modern movement, mid-century phenomenology, post-structuralist Derridean exchanges with architects, the Deleuzian influence on the smoothing of form and finally contemporary architectural references to speculative realism.

Contingent Computation: Abstraction, Experience, and Indeterminacy in Computational Aesthetics (Media Philosophy) by M. Beatrice Fazi
English | Sep 15, 2018 | ISBN: 1786606089, 1538147068 | 248 pages | PDF + EPUB | 3 + 1 MB
In Contingent Computation, M. Beatrice Fazi offers a new theoretical perspective through which we can engage philosophically with computing. The book proves that aesthetics is a viable mode of investigating contemporary computational systems. It does so by advancing an original conception of computational aesthetics that does not just concern art made by or with computers, but rather the modes of being and becoming of computational processes. Contingent Computation mobilises the philosophies of Gilles Deleuze and Alfred North Whitehead in order to address aesthetics as an ontological study of the generative potential of reality. Through a novel philosophical reading of Gödel's incompleteness theorems and of Turing's notion of incomputability, Fazi finds this potential at the formal heart of computational systems, and argues that computation is a process of determining indeterminacy. This indeterminacy, which is central to computational systems, does not contradict their functionality. Instead, it drives their very operation, albeit in a manner that might not always fit with the instrumental, representational and cognitivist purposes that we have assigned to computing.
