E-BooksAtlas of Interstitial Cells of Cajal in the Gastrointestinal Tract

Atlas of Interstitial Cells of Cajal in the Gastrointestinal Tract
Free Download Atlas of Interstitial Cells of Cajal in the Gastrointestinal Tract by Terumasa Komuro
English | PDF (True) | 2012 | 138 Pages | ISBN : 9400729162 | 20.5 MB
This atlas will illustrate the distribution and morphological features of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) which are the key cells to understanding of the regulatory mechanism of gastrointestinal motility, since ICC act as both pacemaker and as intermediates in neural transmission, and since ICC show specific distribution patterns depending on their anatomical positions. All subtypes of ICC located in the different tissue layers and different levels of the gastrointestinal tract will be revealed by immunohistochemistry for Kit receptors and nerves by using mainly whole-mount stretch preparation of the guinea-pig tissues. Three-dimensional reconstruction of confocal images will particularly help the readers to understand the peculiar arrangement of ICC networks in situ and the correlation between ICC and nerves. Electron micrographs will help illustrate the characteristic features of ICC and their ultrastructural differences from fibroblasts, smooth muscles and other interstitial cells.

E-BooksAtlas of Human Limb Joints

Atlas of Human Limb Joints
Free Download Atlas of Human Limb Joints by Jacques Guyot
English | PDF | 1981 | 260 Pages | ISBN : N/A | 55.5 MB
The aim of this book is to present as completely as possible a description of the joints of the human limbs, using photographs and drawings of anatomical dissections. Existing descriptive anatomical accounts are often theoretical and not linked to functional activity of the joints concerned; they lack practical demonstra tion of the anatomy. We hope to fill the gap in the available literature by presentation of this book. The work is directed towards anatomists, doctors interested in joint pathology, orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, radiologists, specialists in sport injuries and rehabilitation, also to physicians in general, physiotherapists and students. The book is divided into seven chapters. Each chapter comprises two parts: the first is a brief account of the functional anatomy of the joint. It does not offer a complete description but an overall summary of the functional structures involved. The second section, the main part, includes illustrations (drawings and photographs of anatomical dissections). The dissections and the photographs were prepared in the Department of Anatomy directed by Professor HENRI M. DUVERNaY from cadaveric specimens preserved by the method described by WINCKLER (1964). The process of dissecting the ligamentous structures around joints has proved techni cally difficult. It is easy to create artificially structures from the mass of fibrous tissue and on a number of occasions we have been unable to locate ligaments which are described in some anatomical accounts.

English | ISBN: 1904798675 | 2006 | 352 pages | PDF | 19 MB
Glaucoma is a term used to describe many different eye diseases which gradually weaken and reduce vision, often without outward symptoms. Despite all our available medical advances, unfortunately as yet loss of vision from glaucoma is irreversible. In this book the editors have compiled 17 chapters on the most up to date glaucoma surgery worldwide, including laser treatment, implants and non-penetrative surgery. As the editors themselves say - 'even though we still do not fully understand the mechanisms and genetic background to the conditions known as glaucoma, we are able to offer palliative and sometime curable therapies.' Thus the book provides essential information to ophthalmic surgeons and practitioners who need to update and maintain their knowledge and skills when combating the multitude of glaucoma problems.
