Description
In this period when climate change has intensified, the first resources to be affected are glaciers and other freshwater resources. Geological and geophysical exploration can provide an important contribution in the concrete resolution of freshwater supply problems. Electromagnetic techniques allow the search for aquifers at great depth. The course will also analyze the main charging systems, and a small part will be dedicated to the use of Feflow. In Feflow the main steps to model an aquifer will be shown, how to calculate the horizontal and vertical transmissivity gradient. In addition to the calculation of the vertical and horizontal gradient we will try to explain from a theoretical and practical point of view the concepts of hydraulic modeling. Practical exercises will be carried out that will allow students to practice on the themes of geological and geophysical exploration. We will always be available for any clarification and we will try to answer questions. Intermediate quizzes will be provided. The topics of hydrological recharge of aquifers will also be discussed, a brief mention of how to protect recharge areas.
