Description
This course teaches the basics of United States history, foundation and government so students can be productive citizens of the United States as well as to pass the civics exam required by the government of the United States for citizenship. In this course, students will explore different topics relating to early settlement and colonization, the formation of the government including Constitution and the three branches of government, historical events between the 1800s and 2000s as well as geography and general facts about the United States. Presented in short, easy to understand lectures, each unit includes note pages, a transcript of the lecture and a unit quiz which includes actual questions from the civics exam. Note pages are designed so students can take notes on important concepts while following along with the lecture. At the end of each note page are a series of questions, actual questions from the United States civics exam. These questions directly correspond to the themes covered in the lecture. Students are encouraged to try to answer the questions on their own before taking each end of unit quiz. Follow along with the lectures and learn who first lived in the country now known as the United States, why did the early colonial people rebel and how did this rebellion lead to the creation of the most important document in the United States. All students welcome, but this course is designed for learners looking to pass the civics exam.
