E-BooksThe Color of Kink Black Women, BDSM, and Pornography (Sexual Cultures)

The Color of Kink Black Women, BDSM, and Pornography (Sexual Cultures)
Free Download The Color of Kink: Black Women, BDSM, and Pornography (Sexual Cultures) By Ariane Cruz
2016 | 320 Pages | ISBN: 1479809284 | PDF | 19 MB
Winner of the MLA's 2016 Alan Bray Prize for Best Book in GLBTQ Studies How BDSM can be used as a metaphor for black female sexuality. The Color of Kink explores black women's representations and performances within American pornography and BDSM (bondage and discipline, domination and submission, and sadism and masochism) from the 1930s to the present, revealing the ways in which they illustrate a complex and contradictory negotiation of pain, pleasure, and power for black women. Based on personal interviews conducted with pornography performers, producers, and professional dominatrices, visual and textual analysis, and extensive archival research, Ariane Cruz reveals BDSM and pornography as critical sites from which to rethink the formative links between Black female sexuality and violence. She explores how violence becomes not just a vehicle of pleasure but also a mode of accessing and contesting power. Drawing on feminist and queer theory, critical race theory, and media studies, Cruz argues that BDSM is a productive space from which to consider the complexity and diverseness of black women's sexual practice and the mutability of black female sexuality. Illuminating the cross-pollination of black sexuality and BDSM, The Color of Kink makes a unique contribution to the growing scholarship on racialized sexuality.

E-BooksThe Coloniality of the Secular Race, Religion, and Poetics of World–Making

The Coloniality of the Secular Race, Religion, and Poetics of World–Making
Free Download Yountae An, "The Coloniality of the Secular: Race, Religion, and Poetics of World-Making"
English | ISBN: 1478025107 | 2024 | 240 pages | PDF | 3 MB
In The Coloniality of the Secular, An Yountae investigates the collusive ties between the modern concepts of the secular, religion, race, and coloniality in the Americas. Drawing on the work of Édouard Glissant, Frantz Fanon, Aimé Césaire, Sylvia Wynter, and Enrique Dussel, An maps the intersections of revolutionary non-Western thought with religious ideas to show how decoloniality redefines the sacred as an integral part of its liberation vision. He examines these thinkers' rejection of colonial religions and interrogates the narrow conception of religion that confines it within colonial power structures. An explores decoloniality's conception of the sacred in relation to revolutionary violence, gender, creolization, and racial phenomenology, demonstrating its potential for reshaping religious paradigms. Pointing out that the secular has been pivotal to regulating racial hierarchies under colonialism, he advocates for a broader understanding of religion that captures the fundamental ideas that drive decolonial thinking. By examining how decolonial theory incorporates the sacred into its vision of liberation, An invites readers to rethink the transformative power of decoloniality and religion to build a hopeful future.

The Codesign of Embedded Systems A Unified HardwareSoftware Representation
Free Download The Codesign of Embedded Systems: A Unified Hardware/Software Representation: A Unified Hardware/Software Representation by Sanjaya Kumar , James H. Aylor , Barry W. Johnson , WM. A. Wulf
English | PDF | 1996 | 288 Pages | ISBN : 0792396367 | 22.3 MB
Current practice dictates the separation of the hardware and software development paths early in the design cycle. These paths remain independent with very little interaction occurring between them until system integration. In particular, hardware is often specified without fully appreciating the computational requirements of the software. Also, software development does not influence hardware development and does not track changes made during the hardware design phase. Thus, the ability to explore hardware/software tradeoffs is restricted, such as the movement of functionality from the software domain to the hardware domain (and vice-versa) or the modification of the hardware/software interface. As a result, problems that are encountered during system integration may require modification of the software and/or hardware, resulting in potentially significant cost increases and schedule overruns.

One of the most important chapters in American history, the civil rights era represents the path of recognition, acceptance, and lauding of one of America's greatest assets: its black American citizenry. This resource guides readers through the key events, successes, and trials of the civil rights movement, from the Montgomery bus boycott to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Though significant racial challenges remained even after the dismantling of legal segregation, that only makes studying the civil rights era all the more relevant for students in the twenty-first century.

The Changing Face of Dalmatia (Reports of the Research Committee of the Society of Antiquaries of London)
Free Download The Changing Face of Dalmatia (Reports of the Research Committee of the Society of Antiquaries of London) By John Chapman, Robert Shiel, Šime Batović
1996 | 365 Pages | ISBN: 0718500482 | PDF | 26 MB
The policy of systematic destruction of the cultural heritage in the Serbian-Bosnian-Croation war has led to the loss of many prehistoric and historic remains in Dalmatia. Since many of the sites can no longer be visited, this project, in the Zadar lowlands, represents the last chance for a generation to study the archaeological and paleo-environmental field remains of the largest and most fertile plain in the East Adriatic. The core fieldwork consisted of an intensive field survey of over 120 sq. km of lowland, trial excavations on six sites (from Neolthic to Roman) and soil investigations of the total surveyed area. One archive-based chapter discusses the history of the area in the early medieval and Ottoman periods. A project of immense value heightened by the tragic background against which it must now be read.
