Cynics say no good deed goes unpunished, but Ryan McCabe has never been a cynic.
In addition to her duties as dean of students, Ryan is busy working on the steering committee for the annual county-wide fundraiser. Plans for the event are going perfectly. Then tragedy strikes.
The chairwoman is found murdered and the committee members become suspects, with Ryan at the top of the list. But everywhere they turn, Ryan and the detectives find more clues—and more people who wanted the murdered woman dead.
To make matters worse, the culprit proves willing to take more than one victim. With committee members disappearing, the fundraiser is in jeopardy. But Ryan has worse things to think about when she finds herself in the clutches of a killer no one would suspect.
