E-BooksThe Northern Ireland Peace Process Ending the Troubles

The Northern Ireland Peace Process Ending the Troubles
The Northern Ireland Peace Process: Ending the Troubles? By Thomas Hennessey
2001 | 272 Pages | ISBN: 0312239491 | PDF | 50 MB
This book traces the genesis and evolution of the Irish Peace Process. The author argues that the Peace Process was the merging of two quite separate streams. First, there were inter-party talks which involved the British and Irish governments and the constitutional parties in Northern Ireland. Second, there was the inter-nationalist dialogue, initiated by John Hume, which gradually moved republicans away from violence towards the political arena. The Belfast agreement was a junction of these two processes, attempting a compromise between the center of unionist and nationalist politics.

Corporate and white-collar crime in Ireland A new architecture of regulatory enforcement
Joe McGrath, "Corporate and white-collar crime in Ireland: A new architecture of regulatory enforcement "
English | ISBN: 0719090660 | 2015 | 224 pages | EPUB | 622 KB
This book explores the emergence of a new architecture of corporate enforcement in Ireland. It is demonstrated that the State has transitioned from one contradictory model of corporate enforcement to another. Traditionally, the State invoked its most powerful weapon of state censure, the criminal law, but was remarkably lenient in practice because the law was not enforced. The contemporary model is much more reliant on cooperative measures and civil orders, but also contains remarkably punitive and instrumental measures to surmount the difficulties of proving guilt in criminal cases.

E-BooksGeological history of Britain and Ireland

Geological history of Britain and Ireland
Geological history of Britain and Ireland By Nigel H. Woodcock, Rob Strachan (editors)
2012 | 454 Pages | ISBN: 1405193824 | PDF | 25 MB
Britain and Ireland have a remarkably varied geology for so small a fragment of continental crust, with a fine rock record back through three billion years of geological time. This history would have been interesting enough if it had been played out on relatively stable continental crust. However, Britain and Ireland have developed at a tectonic crossroads, on crust once traversed by subduction zones and volcanic arcs, continental rifts and mountain belts. The resulting complexity is instructive, fascinating and perplexing.Geological History of Britain and Ireland tells the region's story at a level accessible to undergraduate geologists, as well as to postgraduates, professionals or informed amateurs. This second edition is fully revised and updated, reflecting our continually developing knowledge of the region's geology. Full coverage is again given to the rich Precambrian and Early Palaeozoic history, as well as to later events more relevant to hydrocarbon exploration. The book is an essential starting point for more detailed studies of the regional geology.Additional resources for this book can be found at http://www.wiley.com/go/woodcock/geologicalhistory
