E-BooksChina's Relations with Arabia and the Gulf 1949–1999

China's Relations with Arabia and the Gulf 1949–1999
Free Download China's Relations with Arabia and the Gulf 1949-1999 By Mohamed Bin Huwaidin; Mohamed Bin Huwaidin
2002 | 320 Pages | ISBN: 0700717307 | PDF | 2 MB
This book provides a detailed analysis of China's foreign policy towards the Gulf and Arabian peninsula region from the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949 to the end of the 20th century. Based on extensive original research, it looks at the relations between China and each of the countries of the region over the entire period. It demonstrates that two key factors have shaped China's foreign policy with the region - China's relations with the United States and the Soviet Union, and China's drive to increase its economic ties with the countries of the region, especially after becoming a net importer of oil in the early 1990s.

E-BooksBattle of Leyte Gulf 23–26 October 1944

Battle of Leyte Gulf 23–26 October 1944
Free Download Battle of Leyte Gulf: 23-26 October 1944 By Thomas J. Cutler
2014 | 376 Pages | ISBN: 1557502439 | EPUB | 4 MB
The last great naval battle of World War II, Leyte Gulf also is remembered as the biggest naval battle ever fought anywhere, and this book has been called the best account of it ever written. First published in hardcover on the battle's fiftieth anniversary in 1994 and drawing on materials not previously available, it blends history with human drama to give a real sense of what happened--despite the mammoth scope of the battle. Every facet of naval warfare was involved in the struggle that engaged some two hundred thousand men and 282 American, Japanese, and Australian ships over more than a hundred thousand square miles of sea. That Tom Cutler succeeded at such a difficult task is no surprise. The award-winning author saw combat service aboard many types of ships during his naval career, and as a historian and professor of strategy and policy at the Naval War College, he has studied the battle for many years.Cutler captures the milieu, analyzes the strategy and tactics employed, and re-creates the experiences of the participants--from seaman to admiral, both Japanese and American. It is a story replete with awe-inspiring heroism, failed intelligence, flawed strategy, brilliant deception, great controversies, and a cast of characters with names like Halsey, Nimitz, Ozawa, and MacArthur. Such an exciting and revealing account of the battle is unlikely to be equaled by future writers.

Battle of Leyte Gulf The Largest Sea Battle of the Second World War (Images of War)
Free Download Battle of Leyte Gulf: The Largest Sea Battle of the Second World War (Images of War) by John Grehan
English | July 15, 2021 | ISBN: 1526770393 | 216 pages | PDF | 21 Mb
On 20 October 1944, the U.S. Sixth Army began landing on Leyte's eastern coast, supported by the U.S. Navy's 3rd and 7th fleets, which were assisted by ships from the Royal Australian Navy. The Japanese were aware that the Americans were poised to attack the Philippines and planned to draw the American warships into one last great battle to try and stave off the otherwise inevitable defeat. Over the course of the following three days, the two naval forces engaged in four separate engagements. Involving more than 360 ships and 200,000 naval personnel, the battle was the greatest naval encounter of the World War II and possibly the largest naval battle in history.

E-BooksTransnational Generations in the Arab Gulf States and Beyond

Transnational Generations in the Arab Gulf States and Beyond
Free Download Transnational Generations in the Arab Gulf States and Beyond by Kyoko Matsukawa, Akiko Watanabe, Zahra R. Babar
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 256 Pages | ISBN : 9819951828 | 15.9 MB
This book examines the recent migration phenomenon in the Arab Gulf states for work and residence. It sheds light on the transnationality of diverse groups of migrants from different generations, and unpacks how migrants' multiple senses of belonging, orientations and adaptive strategies have shaped contemporary migration in the Gulf region. In turn, the analysis presented here shows how the Arab Gulf states' citizenship and educational policies affect second-generation migrants in particular. Through a series of fine-grained ethnographic case studies, the authors demonstrate the ways in which these second-generation migrants construct their identities in relation to their putative 'home' country in the Gulf as well as their complex relationship to their parents' countries of origin. This is what underpins the deeply transnational character of their lives, choices and notions of belonging. While migration scholars often situate these groups as 'temporary', this does not in fact capture the reality of temporariness for the migrants themselves, their children or their dependants. The result is a complex and ongoing construction of identity that shapes the way of life for millions of migrants. Relevant to scholars of migration and international studies, particularly focused on the Middle East, Transnational Generations in the Arab Gulf States and Beyond is also of interest to social scientists researching student mobility in higher education, intergenerational families, identity politics and globalisation.

E-BooksChina and the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries Strategic Partnership in a Changing World

China and the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries Strategic Partnership in a Changing World
Free Download Muhamad S. Olimat, "China and the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries: Strategic Partnership in a Changing World"
English | ISBN: 1498545025 | 2016 | 284 pages | EPUB | 6 MB
This book examines China's relations with member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council. It highlights the depth of China's ties with the region bilaterally and multilaterally on a five-dimensional approach: political relations, trade relations, energy security, security cooperation, and cultural relations. Regarding each of these criteria, the GCC countries enjoy a strategic significance to China's national security, vital interests, territorial integrity, sovereignty, regime survival, and economic prosperity. China has been an integral part of the political developments on the Arabian Gulf scene since the 1950s. Their bilateral ties have grown steadily since the Economic Reform Era, culminating in strategic partnership two decades later. China and its Arab Gulf partners have embarked on an ambitious economic cooperation that includes joint ventures in oil upstreaming and downstreaming, mammoth highway and railroad projects, construction projects, and above all, strategic security coordination in reference to security threats. Both sides are also engaged in a process of revival of the Silk Road within the Belt and the Road framework. Sino-Gulf bilateral trade relations reached $159,419.20 billion in 2014. The two sides aim to increase it to $600 billion by 2020, a goal within reach given the fact that they are concluding the China-GCC Free Trade Agreement, which will transform their bilateral ties.
