E-BooksRevolution and Aftermath Forging a New Strategy toward Iran

Revolution and Aftermath Forging a New Strategy toward Iran
Eric Edelman, "Revolution and Aftermath: Forging a New Strategy toward Iran "
English | ISBN: 0817921540 | 2018 | 168 pages | EPUB | 532 KB
In Revolution and Aftermath: Forging a New Strategy toward Iran, Eric Edelman and Ray Takeyh examine one of the most underappreciated forces that has shaped modern US foreign policy: American-Iranian relations. They argue that America's flawed reading of Iran's domestic politics has hamstrung decades of US diplomacy, resulting in humiliations and setbacks ranging from the 1979-81 hostage crisis to Barack Obama's concession-laden nuclear weapons deal. What presidents and diplomats have repeatedly failed to grasp, they write, is that "the Islamic Republic is a revolutionary state whose entire identity is invested in its hostility toward the West." To illuminate a path forward for American-Iranian relations, the authors address some of the most persistent myths about Iran, its ruling elite, and its people. Finally, they highlight lessons leaders can learn from America's many missteps since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

E-BooksIf By Sea The Forging of the American Navy--from the Revolution to the War of 1812

If By Sea The Forging of the American Navy--from the Revolution to the War of 1812
George C Daughan, "If By Sea: The Forging of the American Navy-from the Revolution to the War of 1812"
English | 2011 | ISBN: 0465025145, 0465016073 | EPUB | pages: 576 | 2.3 mb
The American Revolution-and thus the history of the United States-began not on land but on the sea. Paul Revere began his famous midnight ride not by jumping on a horse, but by scrambling into a skiff with two other brave patriots to cross Boston Harbor to Charlestown. Revere and his companions rowed with muffled oars to avoid capture by the British warships closely guarding the harbor. As they paddled silently, Revere's neighbor was flashing two lanterns from the belfry of Old North Church, signaling patriots in Charlestown that the redcoats were crossing the Charles River in longboats. In every major Revolutionary battle thereafter the sea would play a vital, if historically neglected, role. When the American colonies took up arms against Great Britain, they were confronting the greatest sea-power of the age. And it was during the War of Independence that the American Navy was born. But following the British naval model proved crushingly expensive, and the Founding Fathers fought viciously for decades over whether or not the fledgling republic truly needed a deep-water fleet. The debate ended only when the Federal Navy proved indispensable during the War of 1812. Drawing on decades of prodigious research, historian George C. Daughan chronicles the embattled origins of the U.S. Navy. From the bloody and gunpowder-drenched battles fought by American sailors on lakes and high seas to the fierce rhetorical combat waged by the Founders in Congress, If By Sea charts the course by which the Navy became a vital and celebrated American institution.

The joint British and US campaigns in the European theater of operations during World War II rank among the most impressive examples of coalition warfare in history. In just eighteen months, the US and British armies integrated their planning, intelligence, and command structures more thoroughly than any previous alliance. How did these two armies come together so quickly? In Forging the Anglo-American Alliance, Tyler Bamford answers these questions by presenting the first history of the two armies' relations from 1917 to 1941.

E-BooksForging an Ironclad Brand A Leader's Guide [Audiobook]

Forging an Ironclad Brand A Leader's Guide [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B09RLRJMBS | 2022 | 8 hours and 45 minutes | MP3 | M4B | 241 MB
Good brand is just good business. Brand is the intentional leader's North Star. It helps us engage customers and employees, unleash our competitive advantage, and fuel enduring growth. And yet, despite this power, brand is grossly underused. Few leaders leverage brand fully, believing (wrongly) that brand is squishy and elusive. But when a tool this vital is dismissed, the business suffers mightily. The good news is that all leaders can ignite brand to create value. Lindsay Pedersen deconstructs what brand is and why it is indispensable for leaders. Then she shares her step-by-step process to tame the infinite possibilities and pinpoint a brand positioning that is true and robust - ironclad - to unlock the most value. Brand is sorely underutilized. When you ignore it or use it only superficially, you forgo your most sustainable competitive advantage. It's time to start using brand as your North Star - it's time to make your brand ironclad.

E-BooksForging Rivals Race, Class, Law, and the Collapse of Postwar Liberalism

Forging Rivals Race, Class, Law, and the Collapse of Postwar Liberalism
Reuel Schiller, "Forging Rivals: Race, Class, Law, and the Collapse of Postwar Liberalism "
English | ISBN: 1107012260 | 2015 | 355 pages | PDF | 8 MB
The three decades after the end of World War II saw the rise and fall of a particular version of liberalism in which the state committed itself to promoting a modest form of economic egalitarianism while simultaneously embracing ethnic, racial, and religious pluralism. But by the mid-1970s, postwar liberalism was in a shambles: while its commitment to pluralism remained, its economic policies had been abandoned, and the Democratic Party, its primary political vehicle, was collapsing. Schiller attributes this demise to the legal architecture of postwar liberalism, arguing that postwar liberalism's goals of advancing economic egalitarianism and promoting pluralism ultimately conflicted with each other. Through the use of specific historical examples, Schiller demonstrates that postwar liberalism was riddled with legal and institutional contradictions that undermined progressive politics in the mid-twentieth century United States.
