Planetary Rovers Robotic Exploration of the Solar System
Planetary Rovers: Robotic Exploration of the Solar System by Alex Ellery
English | PDF(True) | 2016 | 721 Pages | ISBN : 3642032583 | 45.2 MB
The increasing adoption of terrain mobility - planetary rovers - for the investigation of planetary surfaces emphasises their central importance in space exploration. This imposes a completely new set of technologies and methodologies to the design of such spacecraft - and planetary rovers are indeed, first and foremost, spacecraft. This introduces vehicle engineering, mechatronics, robotics, artificial intelligence and associated technologies to the spacecraft engineer's repertoire of skills. Planetary Rovers is the only book that comprehensively covers these aspects of planetary rover engineering and more.

E-BooksMadness A Philosophical Exploration

Madness A Philosophical Exploration
Justin Garson, "Madness: A Philosophical Exploration"
English | ISBN: 0197613837 | 2022 | 304 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Since the time of Hippocrates, madness has typically been viewed through the lens of disease, dysfunction, and defect. Madness, like all other disease, happens when something in the mind, or in the brain, does not operate the way that it should or as nature intended. In this paradigm, the role of the healer is simply to find the dysfunction and fix it. This remains the dominant perspective in global psychiatry today.

E-BooksThe Communicative Mind A Linguistic Exploration of Conceptual Integration and Meaning Construction

The Communicative Mind A Linguistic Exploration of Conceptual Integration and Meaning Construction
Line Brandt, "The Communicative Mind: A Linguistic Exploration of Conceptual Integration and Meaning Construction"
English | 2012 | ISBN: 1443841447 | PDF | pages: 645 | 4.2 mb
Integrating research in Linguistics, Philosophy, Semiotics, Experimental Psychology, and Literary Studies, The Communicative Mind presents a thought provoking and multifaceted investigation into linguistic meaning construction. It explores the various ways in which the intersubjectivity of communicating interactants manifests itself in language structure and use and argues for the indispensability of dialogue as a semantic resource in cognition. The view of the mind as highly conditioned by the domain of interpersonal communication is supported by an extensive range of empirical linguistic data from fiction, poetry and written and spoken everyday language, including rhetorically creative metaphors and metonymies. The author introduces Cognitive Linguistics to the notion of enunciation, which refers to the situated act of language use, and demonstrates the centrality of subjectivity and turn-taking interaction in natural semantics. The theoretical framework presented takes contextual relevance, viewpoint shifts, dynamicity, and the introduction into discourse of elements with no real-world counterparts (subjective motion, fictivity and other forms of nonactuality) to be vital components in the construction of meaning. The book engages the reader in critical discussions of cognitive-linguistic approaches to semantic construal and addresses the philosophical implications of the identified strengths and limitations. Among the theoretical advances in the cognitive humanities is Fauconnier and Turner's theory of conceptual integration of mental spaces which has proved widely influential in Cognitive Poetics and Linguistics, offering a philosophy of language bridging the gap between pragmatics and semantics. With its constructive criticism of the general mechanism hypothesis, according to which the theory can explain everything from the origin of language to binding in perception, Brandt's book brings the scope and applicability of Conceptual Integration Theory into the arena of scientific debate.

Wild Coast An exploration of the places where land meets sea
Marianne Taylor, "Wild Coast: An exploration of the places where land meets sea"
English | ISBN: 1408181789 | 2015 | 208 pages | EPUB | 170 MB
This book is a celebration of the wildlife and landscapes of Britain's most vital wildlife habitats-those that make up our coastline. Sheer limestone crags resound with the voices of thousands of bickering seabirds; endless acres of estuarine mud are packed with squirming invertebrates that sustain thousands of wading birds. In between are the dazzling chalk outcrops of the south coast with glorious floral communities on the clifftop meadows, shingle beaches where terns and plovers hide their eggs among the stones, and dune systems bound together with marram grass and supporting a unique and fragile ecosystem. Rocky shores harbor microcosms of marine life when the retreating tide leaves rockpools exposed for our exploration, and even the rowdiest seaside towns have their own special wildlife alongside the wild nightlife. Grand-scale color photos bring the wild coast and its inhabitants to life, while the text tells you what you'll see and where, from Land's End to John O'Groats via the scenic route. Beautifully illustrated with color photographs and authoritative text, this book is a celebration of the wilder aspects of the UK's coasts.
