Analytic Theory of Itô-Stochastic Differential Equations with Non-smooth Coefficients
Analytic Theory of Itô-Stochastic Differential Equations with Non-smooth Coefficients
English | 2022 | ISBN: 981193830X | 150 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 9 MB
This book provides analytic tools to describe local and global behavior of solutions to Itô-stochastic differential equations with non-degenerate Sobolev diffusion coefficients and locally integrable drift. Regularity theory of partial differential equations is applied to construct such solutions and to obtain strong Feller properties, irreducibility, Krylov-type estimates, moment inequalities, various types of non-explosion criteria, and long time behavior, e.g., transience, recurrence, and convergence to stationarity. The approach is based on the realization of the transition semigroup associated with the solution of a stochastic differential equation as a strongly continuous semigroup in the Lp-space with respect to a weight that plays the role of a sub-stationary or stationary density. This way we obtain in particular a rigorous functional analytic description of the generator of the solution of a stochastic differential equation and its full domain. The existence of such a weight is shown under broad assumptions on the coefficients. A remarkable fact is that although the weight may not be unique, many important results are independent of it. Given such a weight and semigroup, one can construct and further analyze in detail a weak solution to the stochastic differential equation combining variational techniques, regularity theory for partial differential equations, potential, and generalized Dirichlet form theory. Under classical-like or various other criteria for non-explosion we obtain as one of our main applications the existence of a pathwise unique and strong solution with an infinite lifetime. These results substantially supplement the classical case of locally Lipschitz or monotone coefficients. We further treat other types of uniqueness and non-uniqueness questions, such as uniqueness and non-uniqueness of the mentioned weights and uniqueness in law, in a certain sense, of the solution.

E-BooksRecent Advances in Differential Equations and Control Theory

Recent Advances in Differential Equations and Control Theory
Carmen Pérez-Martinez, "Recent Advances in Differential Equations and Control Theory "
English | ISBN: 3030618749 | 2021 | 112 pages | PDF | 3 MB
This book collects the latest results and new trends in the application of mathematics to some problems in control theory, numerical simulation and differential equations. The work comprises the main results presented at a thematic minisymposium, part of the 9th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2019), held in Valencia, Spain, from 15 to 18 July 2019. The topics covered in the 6 peer-review contributions involve applications of numerical methods to real problems in oceanography and naval engineering, as well as relevant results on switching control techniques, which can have multiple applications in industrial complexes, electromechanical machines, biological systems, etc. Problems in control theory, as in most engineering problems, are modeled by differential equations, for which standard solving procedures may be insufficient. The book also includes recent geometric and analytical methods for the search of exact solutions for differential equations, which serve as essential tools for analyzing problems in many scientific disciplines.

E-BooksNumerical Methods Nonlinear Equations, Numerical Calculus, & Differential Equations

Numerical Methods Nonlinear Equations, Numerical Calculus, & Differential Equations
Numerical Methods: Nonlinear Equations, Numerical Calculus, & Differential Equations by D. James Benton
English | 2021 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B09HHFDRZB | 409 pages | EPUB | 2.88 Mb
This is a combination of three books: Nonlinear Equations, Numerical Calculus, and Differential Equations. These three topics combine to form Numerical Methods. Nonlinear, integral, and differential equations are found throughout science and engineering across a wide variety of disciplines. These are a significant part of applied mathematics and much effort has been devoted to their study and solution. We will consider single and multi-variable problems. Various theories will be presented, but always with a focus on what works best-that is, robust algorithms.

E-BooksGeneralized Estimating Equations

Generalized Estimating Equations
James W. Hardin, Joseph M. Hilbe, "Generalized Estimating Equations"
English | 2012 | pages: 274 | ISBN: 1439881138 | PDF | 1,9 mb
Generalized Estimating Equations, Second Edition updates the best-selling previous edition, which has been the standard text on the subject since it was published a decade ago. Combining theory and application, the text provides readers with a comprehensive discussion of GEE and related models. Numerous examples are employed throughout the text, along with the software code used to create, run, and evaluate the models being examined. Stata is used as the primary software for running and displaying modeling output; associated R code is also given to allow R users to replicate Stata examples. Specific examples of SAS usage are provided in the final chapter as well as on the book's website.
