Power of Bonding and Non–Western Emerging Great Powers Engagement Comparing China and India's Soft Power Strategy in Pa
Free Download Md. Nazmul Islam, "Power of Bonding and Non-Western Emerging Great Powers Engagement: Comparing China and India's Soft Power Strategy in Pa"
English | ISBN: 1666920991 | 2023 | 246 pages | PDF | 4 MB
In international politics, states often strive to maintain their position through either cooperation or force. Soft power theory has emerged as a non-violent approach for states to achieve national interest by utilizing intangible resources. China and India have both successfully employed soft power strategies to expand their influence, , and Pakistan is a relevant case study for examining the soft power of China and India, as it neighbors of both countries. The withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan has raised questions about how India and China will engage and cooperate in dealing with Pakistan, as well as how they will fill the regional gap left by the US. Nazmul Islam considers Joseph S. Nye's Soft Power theory and develops a new idea of "Power of Bonding" based on non-Western perspectives to examine India and China's soft power strategy on Pakistan.. Additionally, it evaluates their areas of influence and soft power strategy in three thematic areas: political and diplomatic engagement, cultural attributions and attraction for power bonding, and economic partnerships. To accomplish these objectives, the study relies on various research methods, including content analysis of articles published in Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, and one-on-one interviews with participants from Pakistan, India, and China.

English | 2009 | pages: 249 | ISBN: 9048133513, 9400790864 | PDF | 3,7 mb
Within the span of last couple of years, the increasing human interference with v- ious natural ecosystems and higher discharge of pollutants has presented numerous challenges to the society related to preserving the nature for a better tomorrow. The challenges also mount pressure on the scienti?c community to invent technologies that would provide solutions to the problems that are man made and also decrease the negative consequences that we are facing because of our own actions. This edited book attempts to present eight technological innovations that have shown potential to provide answers to a few challenges. Like the previous collection, the described innovations in the current volume also cover a range of areas including water and soil pollution, bio-sensors and energy. However, it is to be realized that no combination of technology can be enough to make a sizeable difference. As I said in my last collection, technological advances have to be integrated with a change in social behavior. The philosophy of sustainable development has to be the principle of future planning and growth. In this collection, I am pleased to include an article on noise pollution. Noise is a pollutant of our own behavior and can only be solved by a behavioral change. The change that is either voluntary or enforced by laws. As an environmental scientist noise is not normally a pollutant that would come in mind as a leading pollutant.

E-BooksBrazil's International Status and Recognition as an Emerging Power Inconsistencies and Complexities

Brazil's International Status and Recognition as an Emerging Power Inconsistencies and Complexities
Free Download Daniel Buarque, "Brazil's International Status and Recognition as an Emerging Power: Inconsistencies and Complexities "
English | ISBN: 3031475747 | 2023 | 227 pages | PDF | 5 MB
This book focusses on the intersubjective character of status in order to understand the degree to which Brazil has been able to achieve an increase in its global status. Buarque compares the long-standing ambitions of Brazilian foreign policy elites with external perspectives of observers in states with greater international status who would need to recognize Brazil as a great power and a state increasing in international prestige. Buarque develops a multidisciplinary approach influenced by sociology and psychology scholarship and gives special attention to the importance of recognition whilst drawing on international relations scholarship focussed on prestige, identity, roles and ontological security. In so doing, the book argues for the difference between the status and role Brazil aspires to have in the world and the external beliefs about the level of prestige of the state, amounting to status inconsistency and anxiety leading to ontological insecurity. It proposes that powerful states perceive Brazil as a coveted pawn in international politics and outlines a typology of what states that aspire to have more prestige need to do to achieve recognition for higher status.
