China-US Competition
China-US Competition: Impact on Small and Middle Powers' Strategic Choices
English | 2023 | ISBN: 303115388X | 364 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 9 MB
This open access edited book brings together a closer examination of European and Asian responses to the escalating rivalry between the US and China. As the new Cold War has surfaced as a perceivable reality in the post-COVID era, the topic itself is of great importance to policymakers, academic researchers, and the interested public. Furthermore, this manuscript makes a valuable contribution to an under-studied and increasingly important phenomenon in international relations: the impact of the growing strategic competition between the United States and China on third parties, such as small and middle powers in the two arguably most affected regions of the world: Europe and East Asia. The European side has been under-studied and explicitly comparative work on Europe and East Asia is extremely rare. Given that the manuscript focuses heavily on recent developments―and because many of these developments have been quite dramatic―there are very few publications that cover the same topics.

E-BooksBetween Women Love, Envy, and Competition in Women's Friendships

Between Women Love, Envy, and Competition in Women's Friendships
Luise Eichenbaum, "Between Women: Love, Envy, and Competition in Women's Friendships"
English | ISBN: 150532825X | 2014 | 214 pages | EPUB | 639 KB
As women today pursue new professional and personal goals, they often find that the support they need from their women friends has been undermined by feelings of envy, competition, and anger. This book is an attempt to provide a feminist psychoanalytic understanding of the emotional and psychological processes that are set in train when women perceive differences in each other. It is about the difficulties women face in coming to terms with those differences. We hope it will enable women to handle those differences more productively and less destructively than is often the case at present.

The Cambridge Handbook of Labor in Competition Law
Shae McCrystal, "The Cambridge Handbook of Labor in Competition Law "
English | ISBN: 1108830315 | 2022 | 450 pages | PDF | 2 MB
As scholars and policymakers around the world seek a systematic approach to the question of 'gig work,' one of its regulatory dimensions - the intersection of labor and competition law - points toward a deeper reconceptualization of the conventional legal and economic categories typically brought to bear upon it. A comparative approach to the question of gig work further reveals the variety and contingency of background assumptions that are often overlooked in the context of domestic policy debates. By combining a detailed comparative doctrinal survey of the regulation of non-employee workers in domestic competition law systems with a set of essays reframing the underlying questions raised - in terms of international legal frameworks, freedom of association norms, alternative approaches to law and economics, and more - The Cambridge Handbook of Labor in Competition Law moves the debates over the fissured workplace and the labor - competition law intersection forward in novel ways.

English | 2008 | ISBN: 0826493696, 082649370X | PDF | pages: 371 | 23.5 mb
Languages are constantly changing. New words are added to the English language every year, either borrowed or coined, and there is often railing against the 'decline' of the language by public figures. Some languages, such as French and Finnish, have academies to protect them against foreign imports. Yet languages are species-like constructs, which evolve naturally over time. Migration, imperialism, and globalization have blurred boundaries between many of them, producing new ones (such as creoles) and driving some to extinction.

E-BooksCompetition Theory in Ecology

Competition Theory in Ecology
English | 2022 | ISBN: 978-0192895530 | 337 pages | True PDF | 5.91 MB
Competition between species arises when two or more species share at least some of the same limited resources. It is likely to affect all species, as well as many higher-level aspects of community and ecosystem dynamics. Interspecific competition shares many of the same features as density dependence (intraspecific competition) and evolution (competition between genotypes). In spite of this, a robust theoretical framework is not yet in place to develop a more coherent understanding of this important interaction. Despite its prominence in the ecological literature, the theory seems to have lost direction in recent decades, with many synthetic papers promoting outdated ideas, failing to use resource-based models, and having little utility in applied fields such as conservation and environmental management. Competition theory has done little to incorporate new findings regarding consumer-resource interactions in the context of larger food webs containing behaviourally or
