Free Download Indonesian Communism Under Sukarno: Ideology and Politics, 1959-1965 By Rex Mortimer
2006 | 468 Pages | ISBN: 9793780274 | PDF | 30 MB
This sophisticated study, now brought back into print as the second book in Equinox Publishing's Classic Indonesia series, delineates the ideology of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) during a crucial period in its history. After sketching the evolution of the Party's doctrines between 1951 and 1959, Professor Mortimer analyzes the ideas, programs, and policies of the PKI during Guided Democracy, showing how they developed and were implemented. Mortimer thoroughly examines the relationship between the Party and President Sukarno and offers new interpretations of the events leading up to the abortive coup and the bloody destruction of the PKI in 1965. Specialists and students of modern Indonesia and of Asian nationalism will welcome this first history of Indonesian communism during an era that began with spectacular expansion and ended in disaster.

Indigenist Mobilization Confronting Electoral Communism and Precarious Livelihoods in Post-Reform Kerala
Free Download Luisa Steur, "Indigenist Mobilization: Confronting Electoral Communism and Precarious Livelihoods in Post-Reform Kerala"
English | 2017 | ISBN: 1785333828 | PDF | pages: 301 | 4.4 mb
In Kerala, political activists with a background in Communism are now instead asserting political demands on the basis of indigenous identity. Why did a notion of indigenous belonging come to replace the discourse of class in subaltern struggles? Indigenist Mobilization answers this question through a detailed ethnographic study of the dynamics between the Communist party and indigenist activists, and the subtle ways in which global capitalist restructuring leads to a resonance of indigenist visions in the changing everyday working lives of subaltern groups in Kerala.

E-BooksThe St. Louis Commune of 1877 Communism in the Heartland

The St. Louis Commune of 1877 Communism in the Heartland
The St. Louis Commune of 1877: Communism in the Heartland By Mark Kruger
2021 | 330 Pages | ISBN: 1496228138 | PDF | 13 MB
Following the Civil War, large corporations emerged in the United States and became intent on maximizing their power and profits at all costs. Political corruption permeated American society as those corporate entities grew and spread across the country, leaving bribery and exploitation in their wake. This alliance between corporate America and the political class came to a screeching halt during the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, when the U.S. workers in the railroad, mining, canal, and manufacturing industries called a general strike against monopoly capitalism and brought the country to an economic standstill. In The St. Louis Commune of 1877 Mark Kruger tells the riveting story of how workers assumed political control in St. Louis, Missouri. Kruger examines the roots of the St. Louis Commune-focusing on the 1848 German revolution, the Paris Commune, and the First International. Not only was 1877 the first instance of a general strike in U.S. history; it was also the first time workers took control of a major American city and the first time a city was ruled by a communist party.

E-BooksZarstvo and Communism

Zarstvo and Communism
Francesco Randazzo, "Zarstvo and Communism"
English | ISBN: 1527508994 | 2018 | 170 pages | PDF | 3 MB
The First World War brought with it enormous ideological, political and social problems. In Russia, as in Italy, the repercussions of the war were soon felt, and the two countries saw the birth of oppositional movements within them. In Russia, these movements grasped power thanks to a Bolshevik coup, while in Italy Mussolini founded the Fasci di combattimento, a real militia ready to ride the popular discontent with the mutilated victory, specifically the dissatisfaction with territories promised by the Treaty of London and not granted to Italy. Relations between these two countries were interrupted for several years and were resumed only when both realized that the economic advantages that could result from resuming relations would be far more beneficial than continuing their ideological confrontation. However, mutual distrust never stopped and rendered bilateral relations increasingly tenuous until they were definitely severed in the early years of the Second World War.

E-BooksCommunism's Public Sphere Culture as Politics in Cold War Poland and East Germany

Communism's Public Sphere Culture as Politics in Cold War Poland and East Germany
Kyrill Kunakhovich, "Communism's Public Sphere: Culture as Politics in Cold War Poland and East Germany"
English | ISBN: 1501767046 | 2023 | 354 pages | PDF | 7 MB
Communism's Public Sphere explores the political role of cultural spaces in the Eastern Bloc. Under communist regimes that banned free speech, political discussions shifted to spaces of art: theaters, galleries, concert halls, and youth clubs. Kyrill Kunakhovich shows how these venues turned into sites of dialogue and contestation. While officials used them to spread the communist message, artists and audiences often flouted state policy and championed alternative visions. Cultural spaces therefore came to function as a public sphere, or a rare outlet for discussing public affairs.

The Strange Death of Soviet Communism A Postscript
Nikolas K. Gvosdev, "The Strange Death of Soviet Communism: A Postscript "
English | ISBN: 1412806984 | 2008 | 260 pages | PDF | 3 MB
The collapse of communism marked the close of an era of world history. What took place in the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1991, in the eyes of its proponents, constituted a "great experiment" in the application of new modes of organization to social life, the largest such experiment in history. The Strange Death of Soviet Communism, which first appeared as a special issue of The National Interest, brings together leading scholars of Soviet history, who show why the experiment failed and how it has destroyed the laboratory of socialist utopias.
