The Socio–Cognitive Approach to Communication and Pragmatics
Free Download The Socio-Cognitive Approach to Communication and Pragmatics by Istvan Kecskes
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 336 Pages | ISBN : 3031301595 | 7.5 MB
The book aims to serve as a theoretical framework for the socio-cognitive approach (SCA) that is an alternative to the two main lines of pragmatics research: linguistic-philosophical pragmatics and sociocultural-interactional pragmatics. SCA broadens the scope of the field with an intent to incorporate not only L1 communication but also intercultural communication, and communication in a second language. The author integrates the pragmatic view of cooperation and the cognitive view of egocentrism and emphasizes that both cooperation and egocentrism are manifested in all phases of communication, albeit to varying extents. SCA places equal importance on the social and cognitive individual factors in pragmatics. The author claims that while (social) cooperation is an intention-directed practice that is governed by relevance, (individual) egocentrism is an attention-oriented trait dominated by salience.

E-BooksOvercoming Resistance in Cognitive Therapy

Overcoming Resistance in Cognitive Therapy
Free Download Robert L. Leahy, "Overcoming Resistance in Cognitive Therapy"
English | 2012 | pages: 309 | ISBN: 1572309369, 157230684X | EPUB | 2,3 mb
This practical guide presents Leahy's multidimensional model of resistance in cognitive therapy. Richly illustrated with case examples and session vignettes, the book addresses a variety of ways that clients may resist basic therapeutic procedures: noncompliance with agenda setting and homework assignments, splitting transference with other therapists, inappropriate behavior, and premature termination. Underlying processes of resistance are explored, from the desire for validation to risk aversion and self-handicapping. Also highlighted are ways that the therapist's own responses may inadvertently impede change. Provided are innovative tools for getting treatment back on track, including targeted interventions, in-session "experiments," and questionnaires and graphic models to share with clients.

Fuzzy Cognitive Maps
Free Download Fuzzy Cognitive Maps: A Tool for the Modeling and Simulation of Processes and Systems
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031379586 | 232 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 11 MB
This book is considered as a monograph but also as a potential textbook for graduate students, focusing on the application of FCMs for modelling and analysing the behaviour of multicomponent systems. In the last two decades, no monograph or textbook has been published on the topic Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM), so this new book is definitely filling a gap in the literature of computational intelligence.
