Rethinking Asian Capitalism
Rethinking Asian Capitalism: The Achievements and Challenges of Vietnam Under Doi Moi
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3030981037 | 550 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 24 MB
This book attempts to reflect on the changes that Vietnam has experienced over the past 30 years, during and after DoiMoi. Through multi-dimensional empirical investigations, it aims to offer theoretical and empirical accounts for how a variety of socioeconomic regimes emerged after the end of the Cold War. Being methodologically pluralist (including both theoretical and empirical studies), it aims to give a higher profile to heterodox thinking in comparative political economy. Particular attention is given to post-socialist governance, economic transformation, land rights, trade-led growth, civil society participation, climate change, and the post-COVID 19 recovery.

Ethics of Capitalism and Critique of Sociobiology: Two Essays with a Comment by James M. Buchanan By Professor Dr. Peter Koslowski (auth.)
1996 | 142 Pages | ISBN: 3642082467 | PDF | 6 MB
The book has two subjects, first the ethical theory of the economic order, and secondly the critique of sociobiology and its theory of evolution. The first part, the ethics of capitalism, analyzes the rise of capitalism and the business ethics and moral theory of a capitalist economic order in a perspective from philosophy and economics. The second part, a critique of sociobiology, gives a philosophical assessment of sociobiology's contribution to the theory of the economy and society and of its impact for metaphysics and a general world view. James M. Buchanan, Nobel prize winner in economics, discusses the first part of the book in his comment "The Morality of Capitalism".

Capitalism, Jacobinism and International Relations
Capitalism, Jacobinism and International Relations: Revisiting Turkish Modernity
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1009158341 | 323 Pages | PDF | 2 MB
This book offers a radical reinterpretation of the development of the modern world through the concept of Jacobinism. It argues that the French Revolution was not just another step in the construction of capitalist modernity, but produced an alternative (geo)political economy - that is, 'Jacobinism.' Furthermore, Jacobinism provided a blueprint for other modernization projects, thereby profoundly impacting the content and tempo of global modernity in and beyond Europe. The book traces the journey of Jacobinism in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey. It contends that until the 1950s, the Ottoman/Turkish experiment with modernity was not marked by capitalism, but by a historically specific Jacobinism. Asserting this Jacobin legacy then leads to a novel interpretation of the subsequent transition to and authoritarian consolidation of capitalism in contemporary Turkey. As such, by tracing the world historical trajectory of Jacobinism, the book establishes a new way of understanding the origins and development of global modernity.

The Crisis and Renewal of American Capitalism A Civilizational Approach to Modern American Political Economy
Laurence Cossu-Beaumont, "The Crisis and Renewal of American Capitalism: A Civilizational Approach to Modern American Political Economy "
English | ISBN: 1138908754 | 2015 | 292 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Despite the reversal of America's fortune from the triumphalism of the Roaring Nineties to the gloom of the lost decade and the Great Depression, theoretical conceptions of US capitalism have remained surprisingly unchanged. This book departs from the American political economy literature to identify three common myths that have shaped our conceptualization of US capitalism: its reduction to a state-market dyad dis-embedded from societal factors; the illusion of a weak state and the synchronic conception of the US variety of capitalism.

Diversity of Capitalism in Central and Eastern Europe: Dependent Economies and Monetary Regimes
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3031049497 | 168 Pages | PDF (True) | 4 MB
This book explores the hypothesis of the emergence of a 'dependent capitalism' in Central and Eastern Europe. In a first theoretical part, this book presents the main approaches that structure the field of comparative capitalism and then examines this model shaped by the inflow of foreign capital. In an original way, it proposes to integrate the form of the monetary regime into the dependent capitalism analysis and to extend it to Balkan countries. The monetary regime is seen as complementary to the other elements of the institutional configuration of dependent capitalism.

Class History and Class Practices in the Periphery of Capitalism (Research in Political Economy)
Paul Zarembka, "Class History and Class Practices in the Periphery of Capitalism (Research in Political Economy) "
English | ISBN: 1789735920 | 2019 | 256 pages | EPUB | 1457 KB
Only after World War II did scholars move to theorize the distinction between the core countries at the center of capitalism and peripheral countries, often with an added distinction to include the semi-peripheral. Immanuel Wallerstein's World Systems approach has been particularly important and led the term periphery into common scholarly parlance. Not surprisingly, much work remains to be done to untangle the extreme diversity and complexity of the political economies and resistances against the multidimensional cruelties perpetrated in the world's many, very different peripheral contexts.
