A psychologist and best-selling author redefines love and sex addiction as a spectrum disorder, and offers a new approach for healing. Psychologist and best-selling memoirist Kerry Cohen is all too familiar with the questions she often hears from her clients - and has asked herself. Even though sex and love are some of the most universal, sought-after experiences we have, many of us lack the tools and understanding to approach them in a healthy way. Without knowing it, many people struggling with sex and love actually fall somewhere on the spectrum of sex and love addiction (SLA).

On Being Unreasonable Breaking the Rules and Making Things Better [Audiobook]
On Being Unreasonable: Breaking the Rules and Making Things Better (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B0BL841563 | 2023 | 9 hours and 36 minutes | MP3@64 kbps | 264 MB
Author: Kirsty Sedgman
Narrator: Kirsty Sedgman

Manners, order and respect...these are all ideals we subscribe to. In opposed positions, we ought to be able to 'agree to disagree'. Today's world is built from structures of standards and reason, but it is imperative to ask who constructed these norms, and why. We are more divided than ever before-along lines of race, gender, class, disability-and it's time to question who benefits the most. What if our propensity to measure human behaviour against rules and reason is actually more problematic than it might seem? Kirsty Sedgman shows how power dynamics and the social biases involved have resulted in a wide acceptance of what people should and shouldn't do, but they create discriminatory realities and amount to a societal façade that is dangerous for genuine social progress. From taking the knee to breastfeeding in public, from neighbourhood vigilantism to the Colston Four-and exploring ideas around ethics, justice, society, and equality along the way-Sedgman explores notions of civility throughout history up to now.

Evolution 2.0: Breaking the Deadlock Between Darwin and Design (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B01EKL84M0 | 2016 | 11 hours and 00 minutes | M4B@64 kbps | 301 MB
Author: Perry Marshall
Narrator: Perry Marshall

When his missionary brother renounced faith in favor of atheism, Perry Marshall was plunged into crisis and doubt. He decided: "I"m going to let science make this decision for me." He asked: "Is the hand at the end of my arm purposeful? Or is it purposeless?" He leapt into the void of evolution and the origin of life. He could not have begun to anticipate what he was about to discover. Living things were far more sophisticated than textbooks were saying. Nearly every cell in your body can edit its own DNA, combating random destructive copying errors, charting a path for its transformation. Evolution 2.0 pinpoints the central mystery of biology, offering a $10 million technology prize at naturalcode to the first person who can solve it - staffed by judges from Harvard, Oxford, and MIT. In this book you'll find 70+ years of under-reported evolutionary science, including a great many women scientists whose work was sidelined and ignored...even Nobel Prizes that hint at possibilities modern science is only beginning to consider.

E-BooksBreaking Barriers Travel and the State in Early Modern Japan

Breaking Barriers Travel and the State in Early Modern Japan
Breaking Barriers: Travel and the State in Early Modern Japan By Constantine Nomikos Vaporis
1995 | 402 Pages | ISBN: 0674081072 | PDF | 111 MB
Travel in Tokugawa Japan was officially controlled by bakufu and domainal authorities via an elaborate system of barriers, or sekisho, and travel permits; commoners, however, found ways to circumvent these barriers, frequently ignoring the laws designed to control their mobility. In this study, Constantine Vaporis challenges the notion that this system of travel regulations prevented widespread travel, maintaining instead that a "culture of movement" in Japan developed in the Tokugawa era.Using a combination of governmental documentation and travel literature, diaries, and wood-block prints, Vaporis examines the development of travel as recreation; he discusses the impact of pilgrimage and the institutionalization of alms-giving on the freedom of movement commoners enjoyed. By the end of the Tokugawa era, the popular nature of travel and a sophisticated system of roads were well established. Vaporis explores the reluctance of the bakufu to enforce its travel laws, and in doing so, beautifully evokes the character of the journey through Tokugawa Japan.

E-BooksBreaking Babe Ruth Baseball's Campaign Against Its Biggest Star

Breaking Babe Ruth Baseball's Campaign Against Its Biggest Star
Edmund F. Wehrle, "Breaking Babe Ruth: Baseball's Campaign Against Its Biggest Star "
English | ISBN: 0826221602 | 2018 | 304 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
Rather than as a Falstaffian figure of limited intellect, Edmund Wehrle reveals Babe Ruth as an ambitious, independent operator, one not afraid to challenge baseball's draconian labor system. To the baseball establishment, Ruth's immense popularity represented opportunity, but his rebelliousness and potential to overturn the status quo presented a threat. After a decades-long campaign waged by baseball to contain and discredit him, the Babe, frustrated and struggling with injuries and illness, grew more acquiescent, but the image of Ruth that baseball perpetuated still informs how many people remember Babe Ruth to this day. This new perspective, approaching Ruth more seriously and placing his life in fuller context, is long overdue.
