Assembly Line Balancing Under Uncertain Task Time and Demand Volatility
English | 2022 | ISBN: 9811942145 | 152 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 10 MB
This book introduces several mathematical models in assembly line balancing based on stochastic programming and develops exact and heuristic methods to solve them. An assembly line system is a manufacturing process in which parts are added in sequence from workstation to workstation until the final assembly is produced. In an assembly line balancing problem, tasks belonging to different product models are allocated to workstations according to their processing times and precedence relationships among tasks. It incorporates two features, uncertain task times, and demand volatility, separately and simultaneously, into the conventional assembly line balancing model. A real-life case study related to the mask production during the COVID-19 pandemic is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed framework and methodology. The book is intended for graduate students who are interested in combinatorial optimizations in manufacturing with uncertain input.

What is load balancing, why do you need it in Spring Cloud, and how can you implement it? In this course, Cecili Reid answers all these questions and more. Cecili goes over the basics of both internal and external load balancing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), then dives into the global external HTTP(S) load balancer, including instance templates, health checks, and instance groups. She also explains how to set up the load balancer and send traffic to it.

Balancing the Socio-political and Medico-ethical Dimensions of HIV: A Social Public Health Approach
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3031091906 | 202 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 4 MB
Responding to public health challenges at the global and local levels can give rise to an array of tensions. To assure sustainable public health, these tensions need to be meaningfully balanced. Using empirical evidence and lived experiences relating to HIV from the global south, this book enunciates the many dimensions of national-level responses to HIV/AIDS including conceptual, philosophical, and methodological perspectives from public health, public policy, bioethics, and social sciences. Calling out glaring neglects, the book makes a bold recommendation for the destabilization of the naturalness with which national HIV/AIDS responses ignore the socio-political and medico-ethical dimensions of HIV. The case made is grounded in the philosophy of social public health. Such a critical perspective is not unique to Ghana's response to HIV/AIDS but serves as emblematic voice for similarly situated settings of the global south.
