Free Download Australian Army Legal Corps, "Justice In Arms: Military Lawyers In The Australian Army's First Hundred Years"
English | ISBN: 1922132500 | 2017 | 456 pages | EPUB | 34 MB
Justice in Arms brings to life a fascinating and important element of Australia's legal history - the role of Army legal officers in Australia and in expeditionary operations from the Boer War until 2000. This is a comprehensive and absorbing history which describes the dynamic interaction of institutional and political imperatives and the personalities who managed this interaction over the decades. It is populated by colorful characters and legal luminaries and demonstrates that military justice is rightly concerned with discipline and cohesiveness. Reflecting broader societal norms, it is also concerned with the rule of law and respect for the rights, liberties and fair treatment of those who serve in the armed forces. Justice in Arms describes the extraordinary contribution of Army legal officers to both the profession of arms and the development of the law, charting the evolving personal and structural relationships between Army legal officers and command dictated by the changing legal needs of the Army and the broader Australian Defence Force. Today Army legal officers apply, adapt and shape the law to meet evolving needs in peacetime and during armed conflict and peace operations, ensuring the legitimacy of military action and the maintenance of domestic and international support for national objectives.

E-BooksDisarmament in the Time of Perestroika Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union

Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union
Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika: Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union by Scott Ritter
English | September 1st, 2022 | ISBN: 1949762610 | 370 pages | True EPUB | 6.74 MB
Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika is the definitive history of the implementation of the INF Treaty signed by Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan in all its complexities, and the lengths both sides went to "trust, but verify" this successful and unique historic disarmament process. It demonstrates how two nations fundamentally at odds with one another could come together and rid the world of weapons which threatened international peace and security and, indeed, all of humanity. Those engaged were pioneers in what was to be the new frontier of superpower arms control―on-site inspection―that would define compliance verification for future treaties and agreements to come. Their work represents not just a guide to but the standard upon which all future on-site inspections will be based and judged.

E-BooksControlling Small Arms Consolidation, innovation and relevance in research and policy

Controlling Small Arms Consolidation, innovation and relevance in research and policy
Controlling Small Arms: Consolidation, innovation and relevance in research and policy By Peter Batchelor (editor), Kai Michael Kenkel (editor)
2013 | 336 Pages | ISBN: 0415856493 | PDF | 3 MB
This edited volume takes stock of the state of research and policy on the issue of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), ten years after the UN first agreed to deal with the problem. The end of the Cold War originated a series of phenomena that would subsequently come to dominate the political agenda. Perhaps most symptomatic of the ensuing environment is the marked escalation in the scale and dynamics of armed violence, driven by the proliferation of SALW. Events in Rwanda, Somalia and Bosnia seared into global consciousness the devastating effects of this phenomenon, and of the necessity to engage actively in its limitation and prevention. This edited volume explores and outlines the research and policy on the SALW issue at this critical juncture. In addition to providing a detailed telling of the genesis and evolution of SALW research and advocacy, the volume features a series of essays from leading scholars in the field on both advances in research and action on SALW. It reflects on what has been achieved in terms of cumulative advances in data, methodology and analysis, and looks at the ways in which these developments have helped to inform policy making at national, regional and international levels. Alongside situating and integrating past and present advances in advocacy and international action, Controlling Small Arms also outlines future directions for research and action. This book will be of much interest to students of small arms, peace and conflict studies, peacebuilding, security studies and IR.

E-BooksRebels in Arms Black Resistance and the Fight for Freedom in the Anglo-Atlantic [Audiobook]

Rebels in Arms Black Resistance and the Fight for Freedom in the Anglo-Atlantic [Audiobook]
Rebels in Arms: Black Resistance and the Fight for Freedom in the Anglo-Atlantic (Audiobook)
English | ASIN: B0BQZJ1W89 | 2022 | 9 hours and 38 minutes | M4B@64 kbps | 276 MB
Author: Justin Iverson
Narrator: Bill Andrew Quinn

Enslaved Black people took up arms and fought in nearly every colonial conflict in early British North America. They sometimes served as loyal soldiers to protect and promote their owners' interests in the hope that they might be freed or be rewarded for their service. But for many Black combatants, war and armed conflict offered an opportunity to attack the chattel slave system itself and promote Black emancipation and freedom. In six cases, starting in 1676 with Nathaniel Bacon's Rebellion in Virginia and ending in 1865 with the First South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment near Charleston, Rebels in Arms tells the long story of how enslaved soldiers and Maroons learned how to use military service and armed conflict to fight for their own interests. Using a comparative Atlantic analysis that uncovers new perspectives on major military conflicts in British North American history, he reveals how enslaved people used these conflicts to lay the groundwork for abolition in 1865. Over the nearly two-hundred-year history of these struggles, enslaved resistance in the British Atlantic world became increasingly militarized, and enslaved soldiers, Maroons, and plantation rebels together increasingly relied on military institutions and operations to achieve their goals.
