A Parallel Algorithm Synthesis Procedure for High-Performance Computer Architectures by Ian N. Dunn , Gerard G. L. Meyer
English | PDF | 2003 | 114 Pages | ISBN : 0306477432 | 8.6 MB
Despite five decades of research, parallel computing remains an exotic, frontier technology on the fringes of mainstream computing. Its much-heralded triumph over sequential computing has yet to materialize. This is in spite of the fact that the processing needs of many signal processing applications continue to eclipse the capabilities of sequential computing. The culprit is largely the software development environment. Fundamental shortcomings in the development environment of many parallel computer architectures thwart the adoption of parallel computing. Foremost, parallel computing has no unifying model to accurately predict the execution time of algorithms on parallel architectures. Cost and scarce programming resources prohibit deploying multiple algorithms and partitioning strategies in an attempt to find the fastest solution. As a consequence, algorithm design is largely an intuitive art form dominated by practitioners who specialize in a particular computer architecture. This, coupled with the fact that parallel computer architectures rarely last more than a couple of years, makes for a complex and challenging design environment.

Algorithm Design: A Methodological Approach - 150 Problems and Detailed Solutions
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032369396 | 820 Pages | PDF (True) | 17 MB
A best-seller in its French edition, the construction of this book is original and its success in the French market demonstrates its appeal. It is based on three principles: 1. An organization of the chapters by families of algorithms: exhaustive search, divide and conquer, etc. At the contrary, there is no chapter only devoted to a systematic exposure of, say, algorithms on strings. Some of these will be found in different chapters. 2. For each family of algorithms, an introduction is given to the mathematical principles and the issues of a rigorous design, with one or two pedagogical examples. 3. For its most part, the book details 150 problems, spanning on seven families of algorithms. For each problem, a precise and progressive statement is given. More important, a complete solution is detailed, with respect to the design principles that have been presented; often, some classical errors are pointed at. Roughly speaking, two thirds of the book are devoted to the detailed rational construction of the solutions.

It's hard to be "at ease" if you're not living authentically. And the opposite of ease is dis-ease. And dis-ease becomes disease without purpose.

Application of Nature Based Algorithm in Natural Resource Management by Mrinmoy Majumder, Rabindra Nath Barman
English | PDF | 2013 | 347 Pages | ISBN : 9400751516 | 4.7 MB
The book describes the utility and efficiency of nature based algorithms in optimization, classification and simulation of natural resource management problems. The book deals with climate change, hydrology, renewable energy and natural ecosystems and tries to find solution to its common uncertainties so that proper mitigation steps can be undertaken to reduce both quantity and probability of such anomalies. The book aims to propose some methodologies which can help related engineers and planners to mitigate the common abnormalities that exist to derail the equilibrium of a natural ecosystem and its biotic as well as abiotic components.
