E-BooksAlexander von Humboldt Multiperspective Approaches

Alexander von Humboldt Multiperspective Approaches
Alexander von Humboldt: Multiperspective Approaches
English | 2022 | ISBN: 3030940071 | 273 Pages | PDF (True) | 9 MB
This book aims to view and to understand Alexander von Humboldt from different perspectives and in varying disciplinary contexts. His contributions addressed numerous topics in the earth but also life sciences-spanning from geo-botany, climatology, paleontology, oceanography, mineralogy, resources, and hydrogeology to links between the environmental impact of humans, erosion, and climate change. From the very beginning, he paved the way for a modern, integrated earth system science approach to decipher, characterize, and model the different forcing factors and their feedback mechanisms. It becomes obvious that Humboldt's holistic approach is far beyond simple description and empiric data collection. As documented and analyzed in the different texts of this volume, he combines observation and analysis with emotions and subjective perceptions in a very affectionate way. However, this publication does not intend to add another encyclopedic text compilation but to observe and critically analyze this unique personality´s relevance in a modern context, particularly in discussing environmental and social key issues in the twenty-first century.

E-BooksAlexander Histories and Iranian Reflections Remnants of Propaganda and Resistance

Alexander Histories and Iranian Reflections Remnants of Propaganda and Resistance
Alexander Histories and Iranian Reflections: Remnants of Propaganda and Resistance By Parivash Jamzadeh
2012 | 193 Pages | ISBN: 9004217460 | PDF | 1 MB
Alexander the Great's military campaign to conquer the Achaemenid empire included a propaganda campaign to convince the Iranians his kingship was compatible with their religious and cultural norms. This campaign proved so successful that the overt display of Alexander's Iranian and Zoroastrian preferences alienated some of his Greek and Macedonian allies. Parivash Jamzadeh shows how this original propaganda material displayed multiple layers of Iranian influences. Additionally she demonstrates that the studied sources do not always offer an accurate account of the contemporary Iranian customs, and occasionally included historical inaccuracies. One of the most interesting finds in this study is the confusion of historical sources that arose between the opponents Darius III and Alexander. Jamzadeh argues that the Iranian propaganda regarding Alexander the Great has contributed to this confusion.

E-BooksThe Young Alexander The Making of Alexander the Great [Audiobook]

The Young Alexander The Making of Alexander the Great [Audiobook]
English | ASIN: B09RT93BCQ | 2022 | 13 hours and 1 minute | MP3 | M4B | 358 MB
This is an astonishing new account of Alexander the Great—one of the most important figures of the ancient world, whose earlier years have until now been a mystery. Alexander the Great's story often reads like fiction: son to a snake-loving mother and a battle-scarred father, tutored by Aristotle, a youth from the periphery of the Greek world who took part in his first campaign aged 16, becoming king of Macedon at 20 and king of Asia by 25, leading his armies into battle like a Homeric figure. Each generation has peered through the frosted glass of history and come to their own conclusion about Alexander, be it enlightened ruler, military genius, megalomaniac, drunkard or despot. Yet the first two decades of his life have until now been a mystery—a matter of legend and myth.
