Creative Agency
English | 2021 | ISBN: 3030774333 | 196 Pages | PDF EPUB | 9 MB
This book offers a socio-cultural examination of contemporary creativity studies. Drawing heavily on posthumanist, new materialist and affective theoretics, the author argues in favour of an expansive and sustainable approach to creativity which contributes to an emergent 'creativity studies' inter-discipline. It seeks to establish a broader consideration of creativity in socio-culture, that extends beyond, or indeed refutes, the narrowing aperture of entrepreneurship and innovation as synonyms for creativity in economic, cultural and educational contexts and discourses. Drawing on multiple case studies of creative relational and creative ecological empirical research, this book integrates a concern for personal, planetary and geo-political collaboration, as an antidote for 'innovation for innovation's sake'.

The Agency of Things in Medieval and Early Modern Art: Materials, Power and Manipulation by Grażyna Jurkowlaniec
English | October 4, 2017 | ISBN: 1138054224 | 220 pages | EPUB | 2.98 Mb
This volume explores the late medieval and early modern periods from the perspective of objects. While the agency of things has been studied in anthropology and archaeology, it is an innovative approach for art historical investigations. Each contributor takes as a point of departure active things: objects that were collected, exchanged, held in hand, carried on a body, assembled, cared for or pawned. Through a series of case studies set in various geographic locations, this volume examines a rich variety of systems throughout Europe and beyond.

Neolithic cave burials: Agency, structure and environment (Social Archaeology and Material Worlds) by Rick Peterson
2019 | ISBN: 1526118866 | English | 272 pages | PDF | 29.5 MB
This is the first book-length treatment of Neolithic burial in Britain to focus primarily on cave evidence. It interprets human remains from forty-eight caves and compares them to what we know of Neolithic collective burial elsewhere in Britain and Europe. It reviews the archaeology of these cave burials and treats them as important evidence for the study of mortuary practice. Drawing on evidence from archaeology, anthropology, osteology and cave science, the book demonstrates that cave burial was one of the earliest elements of the British Neolithic. It also shows that Early Neolithic cave-burial practice was highly varied, with many similarities to other burial rites. However, by the Middle Neolithic, a funerary practice which was specific to caves had developed.
