Distinctive features of the book are: (1) theme-based approach with concrete examples and specific advice; (2) focus on victory narratives of success and strategies rather than victim narratives of struggles; (3) accessible style, and (4) wide range of experiences narrated by both novice and established scholars. English | ISBN: 1978706960 | 2020 | 212 pages | EPUB, PDF | 1038 KB + 3 MB
Christian Theology after Christendom: Engaging the Thought of Douglas John Hall brings together contemporary thinkers to engage and build upon Douglas John Hall's work-and to take up his challenge to reclaim a contextual and decolonizing theology of the cross as a means to speak to the realities of life and faith today. With a focus on contemporary issues, this edited collection critically analyzes and deconstructs the centuries-old colonial triumphalism of Christian theology and the church in the West. This book seeks to frame present day crises in ways that honor a deeply rooted theologia crucis that does not colonize the "other." It explores constructive decolonizing possibilities for Christian theology at the end of Christendom.

E-BooksBritain After the Five Crises Financial Collapse, Migration, Brexit, Covid and the Ukraine

Britain After the Five Crises Financial Collapse, Migration, Brexit, Covid and the Ukraine
Free Download Britain After the Five Crises: Financial Collapse, Migration, Brexit, Covid and the Ukraine by P. W. Preston
English | PDF (True) | 2023 | 275 Pages | ISBN : 3031436490 | 3 MB
The period 2008-2022 has seen the British state/government embroiled in a number of full-blown crises, each impacting the fundamental operations of the state and demanding, therefore, urgent responses from the government of the day. In the first case, the 2008 near-collapse and partial nationalization of the banking system consequent upon decades of irresponsible credit creation coupled to permissive regulation; in the second , the migration crisis of 2015, which saw waves of refugees moving through Europe, provoking anxious responses from European Union member states and opening-up related political debates in Britain; thus, third , the 2016 referendum in regard to membership of the European Union, which the London-based elite clearly thought they would navigate easily before, to their evident shock, losing, an event itself precipitating further extraordinary Westminster manoeuvring; and then fourth the 2020 Covid- 19 pandemic, met with an initial casual sangfroid before the government, its actions informed by epidemiological modelling, made an abrupt shift to 'lockdown', with dramatic social and economic consequences. To these episodes, whose impacts run down to the present, could be added, fifth, the 2022 disaster in Ukraine where the British state/government has chosen to involve itself by supporting one set of combatants in a conflict where presently, after more than a year of fighting, there is little sign of a means to the resolution of the violence. This book examines the crises and tracks how each developed; how state/ government failings in one case were rehearsed in the next; and, more generally, how these crises have been amplified by the decades-long celebration of globalization theory; and, finally, at how following the most recent crisis the future might unfold, hence the ideas of deglobalization, resilience and, more speculatively, the possibilities of democratization.

E-BooksAfter–Mission, Beyond Evangelicalism The Indigenous Injliyyn in the Arab–Muslim Context of Syria–Lebanon

After–Mission, Beyond Evangelicalism The Indigenous Injliyyn in the Arab–Muslim Context of Syria–Lebanon
Free Download Najib George Awad, "After-Mission, Beyond Evangelicalism The Indigenous Injliyyn in the Arab-Muslim Context of Syria-Lebanon "
English | ISBN: 9004444351 | 2020 | 404 pages | PDF | 2 MB
After-Mission touches on on three questions. The first question is about self-perception and identity-formation strategies, and the various views that we have on the Protestants relation to their Arab Muslim Middle Eastern context. The second question, about the theological dimension, asks what kind of a theological discourse do the Protestants need to develop, and how do they need to re-form their own theological heritage, in such a manner that will allow them to heal the historical enmity and suspicion towards them from the Eastern Orthodox Christian community in the region? Finally, the third question touches on the Protestants future in the Arab Muslim Middle East by viewing this inquiry from a broader perspective that is related to all the Middle Eastern Christian communities presence and role in the Muslim-majority context. The question of identity formation, and the managing of difference without trapping it in the mud of otherizing and self-otherizing, will also be tackled, so that the theological dimension is integrated with the broader, multifaceted contextual one.
