Camera Networks The Acquisition and Analysis of Videos over Wide Areas
Camera Networks: The Acquisition and Analysis of Videos over Wide Areas by Amit K. Roy-Chowdhury , Bi Song
English | PDF | 2012 | 133 Pages | ISBN : 3031006836 | 1.6 MB
As networks of video cameras are installed in many applications like security and surveillance, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and assisted living facilities, among others, image understanding in camera networks is becoming an important area of research and technology development. There are many challenges that need to be addressed in the process. Some of them are listed below: - Traditional computer vision challenges in tracking and recognition, robustness to pose, illumination, occlusion, clutter, recognition of objects, and activities; - Aggregating local information for wide area scene understanding, like obtaining stable, long-term tracks of objects; - Positioning of the cameras and dynamic control of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras for optimal sensing; - Distributed processing and scene analysis algorithms; - Resource constraints imposed by different applications like security and surveillance, environmental monitoring, disaster response, assisted living facilities, etc. In this book, we focus on the basic research problems in camera networks, review the current state-of-the-art and present a detailed description of some of the recently developed methodologies. The major underlying theme in all the work presented is to take a network-centric view whereby the overall decisions are made at the network level. This is sometimes achieved by accumulating all the data at a central server, while at other times by exchanging decisions made by individual cameras based on their locally sensed data. Chapter One starts with an overview of the problems in camera networks and the major research directions. Some of the currently available experimental testbeds are also discussed here.

Clark's bestselling textbook offers comprehensive coverage of language acquisition, from a baby's first sounds to a child's increasing skill in negotiating, explaining and entertaining with language. This book, drawing together the most recent findings in the field, and illustrated with examples from a wide range of experimental and observational studies, including the author's own diary observations, presents an essential and comprehensive guide to first language acquisition. E-BooksTechnology Innovation Management Acquisition Considerations

Technology Innovation Management Acquisition Considerations
Technology Innovation Management: Acquisition Considerations by Sheri Wilson
English | 2022 | IASBN: N/A | ASIN: B0BQ6PH7SM | 115 pages | EPUB | 0.54 Mb
The management of technology is more than just developing, buying, and selling. Not only must it be strategically aligned with company and personal goals, but it must also be done with scientific understanding and ethically motivated decision making, above the goal-oriented strategy technology company seeking high returns, understanding its impact down to the consumer level, user, or a single designer of productivity software. The responsibility of this massive industry requires intelligent integrated governance and oversight of humanity and science, not just as users and developers, but as environmental analysts, sociologists, economists, engineers, and strategists. Technology's progression and impact has not nearly reached its fullest potential, and many should ask, if because we are an equality and law-based society that we too are also behind, reactionarily managed by cases, code, rules, tools, protection, enforcement, not operating at our greatest potential and are equal or better than our devices? We are in interdependent, yet non-integrated, getting closer to understanding the full power of technology, yet still far behind in our ability to put all ideas into action. Something can't be bought that isn't yet available, so ideas are the useless legal premise of virtual physics.
