Stress and Skin Disorders Basic and Clinical Aspects
Free Download Katlein França, "Stress and Skin Disorders: Basic and Clinical Aspects"
English | ISBN: 3319463519 | 2017 | 272 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Dermatological conditions are intimately related to stress. Stress can affect, reveal or even exacerbate a number of skin disorders, including alopecia, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, pruritus, herpes, lichen planus, rosacea and urticarial. On the other hand, the skin disease itself could induce a secondary stress for the patient, influencing his or her quality of life. There is increasing evidence that stress influences disease processes and contributes to inflammation through the modulating hypothalamicpituitary- adrenal axis - releasing neuropeptides, neurotrophins, lymphokines and other chemical mediators from nerve endings to dermal cells.

E-BooksStratified Virtue Epistemology A Defence

Stratified Virtue Epistemology A Defence
Free Download J. Adam Carter, "Stratified Virtue Epistemology: A Defence "
English | ISBN: 100946826X | 2024 | 75 pages | PDF | 4 MB
This accessible Element defends version of virtue epistemology shown to have all-things-considered advantages over other views on the market. The view is unorthodox, in that it incorporates Sosa's animal/reflective knowledge distinction, which has thus far had few takers. The author shows why embracing a multi-tiered framework is not a liability within virtue epistemology but instead affords it an edge not attainable otherwise. The particular account of knowledge goes beyond Sosa's own view by introducing and incorporating several theoretical innovations (regarding both basing and risk, as well as the introduction of multiple species of reflective knowledge) which are aimed at revamping how we think about 'high-grade' knowledge, how we attain it, and what it demands of us. The result is a new and improved stratified virtue epistemology that can hold up against scrutiny.

E-BooksStrategic Management Concepts ISE

Strategic Management Concepts ISE
Free Download Frank Rothaermel, "Strategic Management: Concepts ISE"
English | ISBN: 1266191860 | 2023 | 576 pages | PDF | 25 MB
Frank T. Rothaermel wrote Strategic Management 6e from the ground up because the world has changed dramatically since 5e was published (in January 2020). Events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, social justice movements, war, and disenchantment with the economic system profoundly impact how leaders run companies in their quest for competitive advantage. Rothaermel 6e synthesizes and integrates conceptual frameworks, empirical research, and practical applications with current real-world examples to help students make sense of a fast-changing and complex world. Rothaermel 6e is industry-leading in diversity and inclusion by featuring leaders with different backgrounds and companies that today's students can relate to and thus internalize the knowledge acquired. The new 6e prepares students with the foundation they need to understand how companies gain and sustain competitive advantage while developing skills to become successful leaders capable of making well-reasoned strategic decisions. As sole author, Rothaermel continues to provide an unmatched tight linkage between the concepts and cases, resulting in engaging and enjoyable content.

Stop Thief! Anarchism and Philosophy
Free Download Catherine Malabou, "Stop Thief!: Anarchism and Philosophy"
English | ISBN: 1509555234 | 2024 | 268 pages | PDF | 5 MB
Many contemporary philosophers - including Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, and Giorgio Agamben - ascribe an ethical or political value to anarchy, but none ever called themselves an "anarchist." It is as if anarchism were unmentionable and had to be concealed, even though its critique of domination and of government is poached by the philosophers.

E-BooksStochastic Modelling and Control

Stochastic Modelling and Control
Free Download Stochastic Modelling and Control by M. H. A. Davis , R. B. Vinter
English | PDF | 1985 | 405 Pages | ISBN : 9401086400 | 24.6 MB
This book aims to provide a unified treatment of input/output modelling and of control for discrete-time dynamical systems subject to random disturbances. The results presented are of wide applica bility in control engineering, operations research, econometric modelling and many other areas. There are two distinct approaches to mathematical modelling of physical systems: a direct analysis of the physical mechanisms that comprise the process, or a 'black box' approach based on analysis of input/output data. The second approach is adopted here, although of course the properties ofthe models we study, which within the limits of linearity are very general, are also relevant to the behaviour of systems represented by such models, however they are arrived at. The type of system we are interested in is a discrete-time or sampled-data system where the relation between input and output is (at least approximately) linear and where additive random dis turbances are also present, so that the behaviour of the system must be investigated by statistical methods. After a preliminary chapter summarizing elements of probability and linear system theory, we introduce in Chapter 2 some general linear stochastic models, both in input/output and state-space form. Chapter 3 concerns filtering theory: estimation of the state of a dynamical system from noisy observations. As well as being an important topic in its own right, filtering theory provides the link, via the so-called innovations representation, between input/output models (as identified by data analysis) and state-space models, as required for much contemporary control theory.

Pittsburgh's small but lucrative Cosa Nostra mafia family was on the rise in 1985 with a newly crowned Don... At the same time, the Youngstown, OH faction of the family launched a brutal mob war against the weakening Cleveland mafia and the Altoona, PA crew violently clamped down on their city. Discover gritty stories of a made member who controlled who a local police department hired, an informant who betrayed his own mafia grandfather and father, numerous unsolved murders and a mob mole in the Pittsburgh office of the FBI. This is the tale of a mafia family at the pinnacle of its power, willing to do anything to hold on to that power and its downfall in the criminal underworld.
