Free Download Karin M. Danielsson, "The Nonhuman in American Literary Naturalism "
English | ISBN: 166691570X | 2023 | 286 pages | EPUB, PDF | 604 KB + 2 MB
The Nonhuman in American Literary Naturalism responds to a need to expand and refine the connections among nonhuman studies and American literary naturalism and to productively expand the scholarly discourse surrounding this vital movement in American literary history. This collection focuses on that which becomes visible when the human subject is skirted, or moved off-center: in other words, the representation of nonhuman animals and other vital or inert species, things, entities, cityscapes and seascapes, that play an important part in American literary naturalism. Informed by animal studies, ecocriticism, posthumanism, new materialism, and other recent theoretical perspectives, the essays in this collection discuss early naturalist texts as well as more recent naturalistic-oriented authors.

English | ISBN: 9697490686 | 2021 | 190 pages | EPUB | 176 KB
Writing is a healer to a heart that has too much to say. A story of failure and serendipity led the Author to write the various facets of life, and become the voice of the moment. The book offers absurdity that shifts to lucidity. Aspects we hesitate to talk about in a society that suppresses an individual power and resist them to grow according to the gifted potential. Before we seek growth of contentment and fulfilment, we need to analyse the root cause of common drawbacks each one of us encounters. Where are we going? To offer wealthy realisations is the penman's claim to invite you on a journey of serendipity and realism. How do we grow? Everybody has a journey to share and a view to express. The process of this book invites to the pillars we need to understand to break the caged voices. The moment we are born, we are facing life and death, simultaneously. The nectar of poetry, the lines of wonder, reluctance and celebrations are waiting to witness your eyes. The next second is waiting for you. You are responsible for your life, decide your journey.

The Mythology of the Animal Farm in Children's Literature Over the Fence
Free Download Stacy E. Hoult-Saros, "The Mythology of the Animal Farm in Children's Literature: Over the Fence "
English | ISBN: 1498519776 | 2016 | 192 pages | EPUB | 977 KB
The Mythology of the Animal Farm in Children's Literature: Over the Fence analyzes the ways in which myths about farmed animals' lives are perpetuated in children's materials. Specifically, this book investigates the use of five recurring thematic devices in about eighty books for young children published during the past five decades. The close readings of texts and images draw on a wide range of fields, including animal theory, psychoanalytic and Marxian literary criticism, child development theory, histories of farming and domestication, and postcolonial theory. In spite of the underlying seriousness of the project, the material lends itself to humorous and not overly heavy-handed explications that provide insight into the complex workings of a literary genre based on the covering up of real animal lives.

E-BooksThe Mystery of Emotions Seeking a Theory of What We Feel

The Mystery of Emotions Seeking a Theory of What We Feel
Free Download Hinshelwood, "The Mystery of Emotions: Seeking a Theory of What We Feel"
English | ISBN: 1800131747 | 2023 | 240 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Psychoanalysis is, above all, the science of the emotions but, as yet, there is no single accepted theory of affects. Instead, there are many, all of them too limited, based, as they are, on idiosyncratic introspection. R. D. Hinshelwood presents an extensive scoping of the prominent theories from the philosophy of mind and academic psychology alongside a review of psychoanalytic ideas based on instinct theory or object relations. This wide review of divergent theories from various disciplines helps to mitigate variation and identify commonalities. From this scoping exercise, Hinshelwood creates a form of qualitative meta-analysis which enables the most common dimensions to come to the fore - namely, 113 features of affects form a more general theory with four dimensions. This more systematic view offers an affective 'space' as a model for thinking about the nature of affects, their origins, and their consequences. At the same time, Hinshelwood retains the personal. He starts with the memory which initiated his quest to understand how much we are rooted in the experience of our feelings and includes a chapter documenting his own idiosyncrasies to bring his own bias to the fore. In this way, the book preserves the especially personal and intimate quality of its universal topic.
