Inside Prefab The Ready–made Interior
Free Download Deborah Schneiderman, "Inside Prefab: The Ready-made Interior"
English | ISBN: 1568989873 | 2012 | 144 pages | PDF | 7 MB
As an inherently sustainable and affordable building method, prefabrication has enjoyed a revival in recent years, attracting clients and architects alike. Low construction costs, efficiency, and sustainability make prefabrication an attractive solution for contemporary interior designers. Off-site production for interior design elements has been the norm for centuries, from the first Asian paper screens to the packaged kitchens of the mid-twentieth century, but it has rarely been the topic of serious discussion. In Inside Prefab, author Deborah Schneiderman offers a fascinating history of prefabricated interior design, followed by twenty-four contemporary case studies. The richly illustrated examples in this book range from interior walls, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, and offices to complete prefabricated house interiors. This first book-length discussion and showcase of the prefabricated interior environment includes projects by established architects such as Shigeru Ban, Atelier Tekuto, and Greg Lynn, as well as up-and-coming firms

Infinite Length Modules
Free Download Infinite Length Modules by Henning Krause, Claus Michael Ringel
English | PDF | 2000 | 437 Pages | ISBN : 3764364130 | 44.2 MB
This volume presents the invited lectures of a conference devoted to Infinite Length Modules, held at Bielefeld, September 7-11, 1998. Some additional surveys have been included in order to establish a unified picture. The scientific organization of the conference was in the hands of K. Brown (Glasgow), P. M. Cohn (London), I. Reiten (Trondheim) and C. M. Ringel (Bielefeld). The conference was concerned with the role played by modules of infinite length when dealing with problems in the representation theory of algebras. The investi gation of such modules always relies on information concerning modules of finite length, for example simple modules and their possible extensions. But the converse is also true: recent developments in representation theory indicate that a full un derstanding of the category of finite dimensional modules, even over a finite dimen sional algebra, requires consideration of infinite dimensional, thus infinite length, modules. For instance, the important notion of tameness uses one-parameter fami lies of modules, or, alternatively, generic modules and they are of infinite length. If one tries to exhibit a presentation of a module category, it turns out to be essential to take into account the indecomposable modules which are algebraically compact, or, equivalently, pure injective. Specific methods have been developed over the last few years dealing with such special situations as group algebras of finite groups or noetherian rings, and there are surprising relations to topology and geometry. The conference outlined the present state of the art.

Impossible Subjects Illegal Aliens and the Making of Modern America
Free Download Impossible Subjects: Illegal Aliens and the Making of Modern America By Mae M. Ngai
2014 | 411 Pages | ISBN: 0691160821 | PDF | 13 MB
This book traces the origins of the "illegal alien" in American law and society, explaining why and how illegal migration became the central problem in U.S. immigration policy―a process that profoundly shaped ideas and practices about citizenship, race, and state authority in the twentieth century. Mae Ngai offers a close reading of the legal regime of restriction that commenced in the 1920s―its statutory architecture, judicial genealogies, administrative enforcement, differential treatment of European and non-European migrants, and long-term effects. She shows that immigration restriction, particularly national-origin and numerical quotas, remapped America both by creating new categories of racial difference and by emphasizing as never before the nation's contiguous land borders and their patrol.

English | ISBN: 1568988230 | 2010 | 208 pages | PDF | 43 MB
Most homes built in the United States over the last fifty years were merely plopped down on a piece of land without any real integration of house and site. The result is a suburban sprawl of homes that are as uninspiring as they are environmentally unsustainable. House in the Landscape offers a viable alternative for landowners who want to build in a more thoughtful manner. Twenty-two houses by some of today's best-known residential architects illustrate nine site types from all over the United States. Each site, the issues it posed, the solutions the architects found, andthe resulting house design are discussed and explained in detail, providing a wealth of siting information for the reader.
