The Character of a Corporation How Your Company's Culture Can Make or Break Your Business
Free Download The Character of a Corporation: How Your Company's Culture Can Make or Break Your Business By Rob Goffee; Gareth R. Jones
1998 | 237 Pages | ISBN: 088730902X | PDF | 16 MB
Coca-Cola, Disney, Nike, and Hewlett-Packard all have it: a positive corporate culture that powerfully affects their bottom line. Yet corporate culture remains the most underutilized weapon in business because most companies are intimidated by its intangibility, convinced of its secondary importance to the "harder" components of their strategic plans, or simply don't know how to assess culture or fix it. Drawing on 15 years of research and consulting with high-profile companies, The Character of a Corporation explores how a company's "character" can make the difference between short-term burnout and a sustainable long-term edge and how anyone, from senior-level executive to middle manager, can identify and thrive within their company's culture.

E-BooksThe Corporation A Critical, Multi-Disciplinary Handbook

The Corporation A Critical, Multi-Disciplinary Handbook
Free Download Grietje Baars, "The Corporation: A Critical, Multi-Disciplinary Handbook"
English | ISBN: 1107073111 | 2017 | 564 pages | PDF | 2 MB
The corporation has become an increasingly dominant force in contemporary society. However, comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the concept of the corporation is often restricted, or limited to one disciplinary approach. This handbook brings together the cutting-edge scholarship, expertise and insight of leading scholars in a wide range of disciplines, notably management studies, law, history, political science, anthropology, sociology and criminology, using a critical approach to dissect and understand the corporation. Ten chapters provide overviews of the state of play of critical scholarship on the corporation in each of these disciplines. Further contributors tackle current hot topics, such as corporate social responsibility, corporate crime, global value chains, financialization, and the interaction between corporations and communities. Finally, they consider resistance and alternatives to the corporation. With its interdisciplinary approach, this book is an invaluable resource for all readers studying the past, present and future of the corporation.

E-BooksSaving Capitalism The Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the New Deal, 1933-1940

Saving Capitalism The Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the New Deal, 1933-1940
Saving Capitalism: The Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the New Deal, 1933-1940 By James Stuart Olson
2017 | 260 Pages | ISBN: 0691608202 | PDF | 13 MB
For two generations historians have debated the significance of the New Deal, arguing about what it tried and tried not to do, whether it was radical or reactionary, and what its origins were. They have emphasized the National Recovery Administration, Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Tennessee Valley Authority, or the various social and labor legislation to illustrate an assortment of arguments about the "real" New Deal. Here James Olson contends that the little-studied Reconstruction Finance Corporation was the major New Deal agency, even though it was the product of the Hoover Administration. Pouring more than ten billion dollars into private businesses during the 1930s in a strenuous effort to "save capitalism," the RFC was the largest, most powerful, and most influential of all New Deal agencies, proving that the main thrust of the New Deal was state capitalism--the use of the federal government to shore up private property and the status quo. As national and international money markets collapsed in 1930, Hoover created an RFC with a structure similar to that of his War Finance Corporation. The agency was given two billion dollars to make low-interest loans to commercial banks, savings banks, other financial institutions, and railroads. With modifications, it survived the ultimate collapse of the economy in 1933 and went on to become the central part of the New Deal's effort to preserve fundamental American institutions.Originally published in 1988.The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Distant Force A Memoir of the Teledyne Corporation and the Man Who Created It
George A. Roberts, Robert J. McVicker, "Distant Force: A Memoir of the Teledyne Corporation and the Man Who Created It"
English | 2007 | ISBN: 097913630X | PDF | pages: 340 | 36.1 mb
Dr. Roberts searched his archive of corporate documents - shareholder financieal reports, records of management and board meetings, letters, drafts of speeches, the copious notes that he personally kept during his tenure as president and later CEO, as well as his own memory - to construct this memoir. He describes the first decade of aggressive acquisitions and diversification; Henry's reasons for adding financial institutions to his highly technical mix; his controversial program of aggressive stock buy-backs; the spin-off to shareholders of certain entities which greatly broadened their flexibility in handling their investments (many of which still provide income today); and finally the difficult days of whistle blower suits, hostile takeover atttempts, and the finally friendly merger with Allegheny Steel Company.

E-BooksThe Univac Corporation In from the Beginning

The Univac Corporation In from the Beginning
The Univac Corporation: In from the Beginning
by Stephen H. Kaisler, Author;

English | 2022 | ISBN: 1527576345 | 469 pages | True PDF | 6.86 MB
Univac Corporation (now Unisys) has been an innovator in computer systems since the early 1960s. Univac (then Remington Rand), built the first commercial computer, the Univac I. This volume continues the story of Univac (later Unisys) computer systems from the Univac 1105. Its successors―the early Univac 1100 machines―helped to establish the concept of a family of computer systems. It was one of the first to develop and deploy a multidimensional operating system that supported interactive, real-time, and batch processing. Ease of access and operation in all modes was especially attractive to scientific and academic communities. It was instrumental in developing COBOL and DMS-1100 for business data processing. The upward compatibility of the Univac 1100 series machines from the Univac 1107 to the Sperry 2200 series demonstrated how evolutionary development could protect its customer's investment while continually enhancing performance. As one of the founders of the computing industry, Univac has survived over 60 years of expansion and consolidation to survive as part of Unisys as one of the two remaining mainframe manufacturers.

Dubai, the City as Corporation
Ahmed Kanna, "Dubai, the City as Corporation"
English | 2011 | ISBN: 0816656304, 0816656312 | PDF | pages: 281 | 5.3 mb
Somewhere in the course of the late twentieth century, Dubai became more than itself. The city was, suddenly, a postmodern urban spectacle rising from the desert-precisely the glittering global consumer utopia imagined by Dubai's rulers and merchant elite. In Dubai, the City as Corporation, Ahmed Kanna looks behind this seductive vision to reveal the role of cultural and political forces in shaping both the image and the reality of Dubai.
