Analytic Combinatorics in Several Variables (2nd Edition)
Free Download Analytic Combinatorics in Several Variables
English | 2024 | ISBN: 1108836623 | 593 Pages | PDF | 15 MB
Discrete structures model a vast array of objects ranging from DNA sequences to internet networks. The theory of generating functions provides an algebraic framework for discrete structures to be enumerated using mathematical tools. This book is the result of 25 years of work developing analytic machinery to recover asymptotics of multivariate sequences from their generating functions, using multivariate methods that rely on a combination of analytic, algebraic, and topological tools. The resulting theory of analytic combinatorics in several variables is put to use in diverse applications from mathematics, combinatorics, computer science, and the natural sciences. This new edition is even more accessible to graduate students, with many more exercises, computational examples with Sage worksheets to illustrate the main results, updated background material, additional illustrations, and a new chapter providing a conceptual overview.

Clear Thinking Structured Analytic Techniques and Strategic Foresight Analysis for Decisionmakers
Free Download Clear Thinking: Structured Analytic Techniques and Strategic Foresight Analysis for Decisionmakers by Randolph H. Pherson , Ole Donner , Oliver Gnad
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 259 Pages | ISBN : 3031487656 | 46.8 MB
This book enables analysts in government and the private sector as well as policy advisors and decision makers to assess global risks and opportunities systematically, make well-founded and informed decisions, and anticipate the unanticipated. The authors illuminate the basics of intuitive and analytical thinking and how structured techniques can mitigate the impact of cognitive biases, misapplied heuristics, and intuitive traps. Three case studies illustrate how to apply over 30 Structured Analytic Techniques (SATs) with step-by-step instructions. The final chapter focuses on how to optimize the impact of your analytic product, be it a paper, briefing, or digital display.

E-BooksAnalytic Philosophy and Human Life

Analytic Philosophy and Human Life
Free Download Thomas Nagel, "Analytic Philosophy and Human Life"
English | ISBN: 0197681670 | 2023 | 312 pages | EPUB | 488 KB
This book collects Thomas Nagel's recent philosophical reflections on topics of fundamental interest: ethics, moral psychology, science and religion, death, the holocaust, and the metaphysics of mind. Among the figures discussed are Peter Singer, Alvin Plantinga, Christine Korsgaard, Tony Judt, Elizabeth Anscombe, Philippa Foot, Iris Murdoch, T. M. Scanlon, Ronald Dworkin, Samuel Scheffler, Daniel Kahneman, Jonathan Haidt, Joshua Greene, and Daniel Dennett. Nagel consistently defends a realist interpretation of moral truth and resists reductive attempts to subsume ethics to psychology and evolutionary theory. He also defends a pluralistic conception of the content of morality as opposed to utilitarianism, one that includes deontological elements such as rights and special responsibilities. A realist outlook also informs his discussion of metaphysical and epistemological questions.

E-BooksThe Ontology of the Analytic Tradition and Its Origins ; Realism and Identity in Frege, Russell, Wittgenstein, and Quine

The Ontology of the Analytic Tradition and Its Origins ; Realism and Identity in Frege, Russell, Wittgenstein, and Quine

1996 | 368 Pages | ISBN: 0822630532 | PDF | 20 MB
The analytic movement advertised its 'linguistic turn' as a radical break from the two-thousand-year-old substance tradition. But this is an illusion. On the fundamental level of ontology, there is enough reformulation and presupposition of traditional 'no entity without identity' themes to analogize Frege, Russell, Wittgenstein, and Quine to Aristotle as paradigmatic of modified realism. Thus the pace of ontology is glacial. Frege and Russell, not Wittgenstein and Quine, emerge as the true analytic progenitors of 'no entity without identity,' offering between them at least twenty-nine private language arguments and sixty-four 'no entity without identity' theories.

Complex Analytic Desingularization (2024)
Free Download Complex Analytic Desingularization by José Manuel Aroca , Heisuke Hironaka , José Luis Vicente
English | EPUB (True) | 2019 | 356 Pages | ISBN : 4431702180 | 19.4 MB
[From the foreword by B. Teissier] The main ideas of the proof of resolution of singularities of complex-analytic spaces presented here were developed by Heisuke Hironaka in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Since then, a number of proofs, all inspired by Hironaka's general approach, have appeared, the validity of some of them extending beyond the complex analytic case. The proof has now been so streamlined that, although it was seen 50 years ago as one of the most difficult proofs produced by mathematics, it can now be the subject of an advanced university course. Yet, far from being of historical interest only, this long-awaited book will be very rewarding for any mathematician interested in singularity theory. Rather than a proof of a canonical or algorithmic resolution of singularities, what is presented is in fact a masterly study of the infinitely near "worst" singular points of a complex analytic space obtained by successive "permissible" blowing ups and of the way to tame them using certain subspaces of the ambient space. This taming proves by an induction on the dimension that there exist finite sequences of permissible blowing ups at the end of which the worst infinitely near points have disappeared, and this is essentially enough to obtain resolution of singularities. Hironaka's ideas for resolution of singularities appear here in a purified and geometric form, in part because of the need to overcome the globalization problems appearing in complex analytic geometry.
